Thread Details

Before the police jump, I don't do a lot of deal posting, there are plenty of professionals around here that are johnny on the spot..I did a search as best I could and did not see it listed..And this is certainly not a gaming laptop but for $200 (plus) it will fit many home user needs I believe..I found this laptop http://www.staples.com/Toshiba-Sa...ct_1674142 in stock @ my local Staples and combined it with this coupon (note IN STORE ONLY) http://www.staples.com/coupons for an extra $100 off any toshiba laptop priced over $199 (might as well grab a ream for a penny from the same page if you get this) and it rang up as $199.99 plus tax for me..I bought two, one for casual computer work for myself to replace my creaky 6-7 yr old Acer and another for one of the older ladies posse that I take care of whose 7-8 year old Compaq is dying..I'll throw a small SSD in mine and it will do anything I need..hope someone finds this useful
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

The coupon's disclaimer says "Minimum purchase requirement must be met with purchases to which no other coupon or instant savings offer applies." Most of the Toshiba laptops have an instant savings of $100-250 (including this one). I tried to use the coupon at 2 different Staples in Pennsylvania and a friend in California tried it at multiple stores also; no one would take the coupon.

I apologize if this is a YMMV...the EXACT details were this in NY...I originally went to buy one for older woman, printed out coupon @ home, saw this on display (orig plus $400 something) now $299 and I played with it for a bit and liked it so much decided to buy one for myself..brought 2 up front , he scanned coupon and it took $50 off each one..I noticed price diff so cancelled purchase, bought 1 and it took $100 off immediately, no overrides...I tried to purchase 2nd with same coupon, would not apply so I pulled up coupon on my smartphone, he hit it with scanner and 2nd one rang up $100 no problems either...you got meConfused

you did a good job posting this deal. the key is to find out when staples' computer system accepts coupons on certain purchases even if the purchase doesn't meet the terms of the coupon. you figured that out for us, which is great

as soon as I'm done work I'm driving straight over to the store. I bought one at full price as a means of reserving it. I will return and re-buy using the coupon and 2 gift cards. the staples near me is very liberal with coupons. they basically have teenagers working the registers and they don't read what's written, they just scan. anyways, once I get the laptop i'll immediately swap out the drive with a 500GB SSD that I have sitting on my book shelf that I got for just under $100. this thing already has 8GB of memory so I'm set.

awesome deal.

What is Staples return policy? I am debating buy now and think about it not to lose on the deal.

How does this compare to an i3/5?

The item number is 7 digits. Anyone have the 6 digit SKU?

Concur, Staple's won't accept 2 coupons on one (1) item. In Florida, they said: The coupon's disclaimer says, "Minimum purchase requirement must be met with purchases to which no other coupon or instant savings offer applies."

If the gentleman was actually able to get Staple's Folks to accept 2 coupons on the Laptop, then the Staple's did not follow policy. I do not think it makes good business sense for the consumers or the merchant to rip-off each other. What makes sense is for the merchant to sell a product with a reasonable markup (so they make a profit) and for the consumer to know when the item is priced fairly. The consumer purchases from good merchants that stand behind their sales. Accordingly, ripping folks off is not good for anyone. It just makes bad business. The merchant must markup the price of other items in order to recoup the losses of being ripped off by a consumer. All of us other Consumers have to pay for the mistake of one (1) Staple's Sales Associate and one (1) greedy consumer.

You should have just showed them the barcode on the phone like what the OP did. Easy peasy my friend. Why make things complicated and then screw yourself out of the deal?

Also, SD isn't the site to whine about the morality of taking advantage of a coupon system glitch to get a good deal on a laptop. Do you honestly think that Staples as a company wouldn't screw you out of more money if they could get away with it? Don't kid yourself. Consumers want to buy something for the lowest price, retailers want to sell it to you for the highest price. It's a game of tug of war
