TU, have some in my area, if you were going to shoot some soccer games and family stuff would you go with this or wait for a regular hd camcorder? thanks

After the entire GP3/3+ production problems I'd say stay 100% away from them as a company.
They really won't stand behind their products.
In the past their key differentiator in the market was durability and quality... now quality can be suspect and market is FLOODED with better and cheaper products.
For $65 it's an okay deal but for the specs of a GP1 I'd say just go with a Vivtar action cam for half that.

I have multiple GoPro and camcorders. if you plan to shoot events and games etc a regular camcorder is better. Mainly because a) you have a screen that allows you to frame your composition b) The screen and the weight of the camera creates a smoother video than a handheld GoPro c) You can zoom in on your subjects with most camcorders but not with a GoPro.
A GoPro has its uses especially in fpv and action cam use but is not a replacement for a consumer video camera. IMHO

Don't see how this is a fantastic deal. Wouldn't it be better to get quality instead of this crap.

Err... GoPro has good quality. Not sure why the company shaming. I got a bad Hero3 Black and they sent me a replacement one for free and a free chest strap mount for my troubles years ago. Quality is amazing.
