If you missed this deal, and just want any AR-15, Palmetto is offering what appears to be a complete rifle (excluding stripped lower and mag) for $349.99 (s/h unknown).
http://palmettostatearmory.com/in...-rifle-kit

Couple with an inexpensive lower http://www.sportsmansguide.com/pr...1799410182 (45.99, Free shipping with code BRADSHIP

Grab a magpul 30 round mag for 10-15 and you should have everything.

BCG appears to be included with the rifle. The stripped lower has to be sent to an FFL, the rest can go to your house.

Assembly is required, but there are youtube videos that make it look simple to do. You WILL need an AR-15 tool (for the stock wrench), and those are 10-15 if you shop around.

If I'm missing something, please chime in as I'm FAR from knowledgeable on these things.

I don't think this barrel is actually chrome lined, is it? Regardless, it's a great deal and I pick mine up from the FFL this Friday Big Grin

Yep, pretty sure it's 4140. It's a a solid lower for a starter AR15, and being a recognized name brand makes it an easy resell if / when the buyer decides upgrade.

Upper swaps are super easy, which would be an easy cheap upgrade down the road.

What's the difference (beyond the name) between the Palmetto and the S&W? I'm a noob. And does the S&W drop to $500 often? It's at $550 now.

Oh man I was just looking at this gun. Looks to be in stock at 549 but being a slick dealer I don't want to spend that price difference so I guess I will have to wait.
