I've had this mic for over a year and I'm completely in love with it. Bought it from frys for about 70. No lag mic monitoring (headphones plug to mic) and easy to use USB input. I recorded my first mixtape on this mic. Lol 😁 😁

Actually, my recommendation for a cheap USB mic would have been an AT-2005USB which is only $10 more than the Samsung at full price. There is more that goes in to the selection of a microphone like this than its configuration, accessories, and sound quality. Drivers are a huge issue. I do not know what the quality of Samson drivers are, but low end manufacturers tend to have terrible drivers (Behringer is one I have experience with). Issues range from higher latency to outright incompatibility with newer operating systems or operating system updates. Audio Technica makes good drivers and in general, is quick to update them. Blue also makes the Snowball mic, and it would probably be an OK choice too for the same reasons as the AT mic.

Another very important thing to consider is that in many cases, spending a bit more money up front gets your a product you only need to buy once. My first bass guitar amp was a cheap piece of crap and ended up blowing out after 2 years with conservative use. I am not even sure what brand it was, but it was cheap. I ended up replacing it with an Ampeg amp (high quality) and never had one issue with it despite touring and pushing it rather hard for long periods of time. I had a similar issue with a Behringer mixing board.

There is really no reason to spend money on anything from Samson. I have provided 2 perfectly acceptable alternatives, one cheaper, one slightly more expensive. For a bit more still, I think Shure makes a USB mic and they make very durable equipment. I am not advocating that everyone go out and buy German made, audiophile quality, boutique gear, but I do think that people should be mindful of what it is they are spending their hard earned money on. And honestly, even a lay person would be surprised the difference they can hear in a $50 mic vs a $300 mic. Its not something you need specially trained senses to notice.

This is true, not often on sale, and an outstanding mic. I had before, and just bought again. Been waiting 3-4 months for it to go on sale. Read the reviews, this is like the #2 to Blue Yeti, and very portable.

What is this used for other than recording? Is this good for voice recognition or would it be "too good" for that? (I.e. pick up too much background noise, etc)

Link won't open on my phone. Google searching for the product and adding it to my cart shows at $70

Edit: worked from PC. Ordered one.

Thanks. Ghetto frys cancelled my order for the 40 dollar snowball. Blessing in disguise? 10 bucks more and this one seems better.

My current microphone setup is an old windows phone hooked into my laptop's mic port... I am strongly considering this deal.

Is this a better mic than others at this price point, like the Blue Snowball?

I just watched a YouTube video comparing them. There was another comparing the yeti too. I suppose you have to be an audio pro I can't hear the difference really, but then again I'm listening to it on an iPad speaker through a life proof nuud case.
