looks like a good deal but since I discovered the aeropress I haven't touched my French press once

34oz isn't really 8 cups, more like 3-4 if you're lucky

coffee absorbs some of the water too, and you never fill the whole thing with water, there's coffee + a gap up top you need to leave

11% 1-star reviews are a little worrying

are you using the paper filters or a mesh one? I love my aeropress but I much prefer my French press. I haven't tried a mesh filter in the aeropress yet though.

I just use the paper. it may come down to whether or not one actually prefers the sludge. a little is ok but I personally like a cleaner cup

i get no sludge from my french pressed coffee, it has a mesh filter

been doing lots of cold brew coffee now, i am now a convert.... someone here on SD recommended it, even tho i scoffed at the idea to begin with... brings out flavors that aren't really apparent from regular brew. can even heat it up and make it hot, so convenient (once it's made)

While is cheap enough to buy - After owning 3 different glass fence presses, I'd advise against it.

Do yourself a favor and buy a double walled stainless steel French press and save your money.

1st one broke while washing.
2nd broke while getting it out of the box (I do this for safe keeping)
3rd broke while moving (dropped the box)

Stainless Steel -- Rock Solid!! Smilie

Thanks OP. Ive been waiting for a deal. I ordered the 12 cup bodum when it was around $10. But its too big. But now i only use the french press. With two mugs this makes it a deal for me.

Great deal on this set, picked it up. I've been looking to start grinding and pressing, and this should be a good start
