fishing deals 😃. i bought a few of these for the nephews. put on 15lb braided line. we've caught up to 6lb bass as well as 10lb catfish / carp. these are nice setups just be smart about "the fight" don't jerk or try and horse the fish in while it's still green. let the rod do the work for ya , admire your catch, release safely back into the water and enjoy the day Smilie

Some tackle suggestions for all of the first timers asking:

Line - 4 or 6 lb test [cabelas.com] (check the specs on your reel to get an idea, you may want to go higher than 6)
Some assorted hooks [cabelas.com] - probably not this many, but you get the idea
Split shot [cabelas.com]or other weights
Bobber [cabelas.com]- easy mode fishing

Hook on the line, some weights a foot or so above the hook, a bobber, and a worm on the hook. This is not advanced fishing, but it's easy and a good start.

For trout fishing, I like rooster tails [cabelas.com] and Phoebe [cabelas.com] lures - cast and retrieve.

For bass fishing, I like crank baits like these [cabelas.com]from Rapala, spinner baits [cabelas.com], and topwater weedless frogs [cabelas.com]. Lately I've been using rubber worms on various rigs, but that is for Fishing 102.

nice deal, thanks OP, repped. Ordered 2 Lights and 2 Mediums for $64 delivered. Great rods and reels for basic freshwater ponds etc, great price. I once threw a watermelon in the street and it was fun too.

Not for kids necessarily, but kind of low-end / entry-level. Good for a beginner, or as others have mentioned, to have for when you want to let someone use gear that you don't care much about.

Bought the same pair last year for the kids, they spent the summer in the salt playing with snappers (small bluefish ~10" in length). Worked like a charm - in for 2 more.
