Go to the online Microsoft Store:
http://www.microsoftstore.com/sto....326602600

Under Business and Education at the top, select Education Store from the dropdown. It'll ask for a participating school, but they do not check to see if you actually qualify. Once you select an organization, you'll now have to scroll down the front page of the Education Store until you see a link to the Lumia 950. It doesn't look like the XL is offered through the discounted store.

The education discount knocks the price to $494.10. Add it to the cart.

Then, use the Lumia trade-in offer (link available on the product page) for an additional discount. Note that you only have to input your IMEI code and they will send you a coupon link within the hour. They do not wait to receive the phone, despite what the disclaimer states. Edit: Some have said that the $150 may be charged to your CC if the phone is never received. But just know the code is available for immediate use, despite the wording of the promo.

Add the trade-in code once you receive it. The original price will drop from $550 to $250. It seems there's a phantom $100 discount added after the two deals are combined? Either way, the end result is a great phone with an awesome camera for $250. I also nabbed a Mozo backplate for $36 with the education discount.

Can this process be replicated for 950 XL ?

It's a really good price, but I had to TD for one reason: Some people in the Lumia 950XL thread mentioned that the T&C for the trade-in say they reserve the right to charge $150 to your CC if they do not receive your trade in.

Otherwise this is a good deal for people who have legitimate codes.

There is a price drop in effect for the 950 and 950XL. The $494 price is not an Ed discount - it shows up on the checkout page regardless of logging in through the education page. The final price certainly is interesting though!

I was able to replicate this deal though. The code is taking off $300 instead of $150. This is a steal! Wish it worked for the XL

Bear in mind it is already $300 off of the original XL price ($350) if you do the trade-in. I'm guessing this is either an error or this is a prelude to the 950 also getting the $150 off deal that the XL currently has (deal is only for XL...494 is the ed price I believe).

Good to know. I didn't add that part for people to try to scam the promo, only to let people know that they wouldn't need to wait a month before getting the code. I didn't even try the trade-in promo until I read in the 950XL thread that the code was immediately sent, because I presumed the offer would have expired before I received the coupon.

Windows Phones blow. I was a fan up until they decided to drop support for almost all WIndows 8 Phones when 10 came out despite the speed & technology of today's phones being no different than they were 4 years ago.

There's no excuse why my Lumia 920 can't run Win 10 OS, they just wanna gouge you to spend $500+ on a new phone when you don't need an upgrade.

And they wonder why App makers won't support them.

MS is killing off consumer Windows Phone shifting to business/enterprise (where they have less support). The whole platform is just sad.

As a Windows loyalist, I desperately want to buy this, but lack of Band 12 on TMobile makes it a no go for me. I wish I could though!!

This is an incredible deal, but sadly too many issues with T-Mobile use:

VoLTE - No
Phone kicks down to 2G/3G/"4G" for calls. No VoLTE/IMS registration settings in Cellular+SIM like T-Mobile branded 640

WiFi Calling - No
No WiFi Calling settings in Cellular+SIM like T-Mobile branded 640

Visual Voicemail - No
No visual voicemail toggle in phone settings

Band 12 - Yes
Band 12 shows enabled in field test mode. Should get data in Band 12 areas at least.

Wanted to reply saying something about being able to purchase them at Radio Shack and warrantied through Sports Authority, but couldn't come up with anything clever.
