purepk507 5 10 May 26, 2016 at 09:24 AM
I am looking for a nice camera that i can keep for a long time and upgrade the lenses overtime. I did a bit of research i have leaned towards a csc mirrorless camera. I dont know much about photography but i want to start, i will take any advice or if anyone knows of any deals at the moment that would be great.

HOW DO FROGS USE CAMERAS WITHOUT OPOSABLE THUMBS!

DSLR and mirrorless are a real investment for not only $$$ but time. you have to learn to balance speed, aperture and iso based on what you are shooting.

price should be a big factor if this is your first trip into this mworld

The budget question is important to answer.

What type of photography do you do or want to do?

What are you using now?

I think a 4/3 mirrorless is a good option for some things. The lens choices are a bit more limited though.

Set up a Deal Alert for a Canon T5, I got a nice refurbished one with 2 lenses for under $200 last fall, should be able to get something similar if you are patient.

$500 what you spent would have given a lot of different suggestions over the $300 max you budgeted.

Anyways with a DSLR please take time to learn to use it both on camera (Don't use auto or the scene modes, learn to use the shutter, aperture priority, and manual) and then on the software side (Learn to edit raw files etc). DSLR's are much more capable but that means that the photographer needs to still know how to run them or the images wont be much better than a Point and shoot.

That can be a good option for some people. There is a lot of content online too like youtube and other photography sites to learn the basics. Reading the manual is also a very good idea.
