Update 6/6:
  • Cricket unlock policy: https://www.cricketwireless.com/s...nlock.html
  • Your Cricket phone definitely has an unlock code somewhere. Just note that not everyone has access to the entire unlock code database.
  • It will update over WiFi to Marshmallow 6.0 withOUT a Cricket SIM card. You do NOT have to have active service with Cricket to get software updates.
  • Like other LG phones, although you can get it to enter recovery mode, you can only do a factory reset.
  • EasyTether (was free from Amazon) works in USB mode after installing LGMobileDriver_WHQL_Ver_4.0.4.exe. The driver is available from http://www.mylgphones.com/lg-andr...ce-drivers. (The driver is also available from a CD drive that somehow shows up after you connect the phone to a PC.)

FreedomPop GSM experience on 6/6:
  • FreedomPop GSM worked even withOUT enabling roaming (no such menu item).
  • I ran Shortcut Master (Lite), Menu, Search..., entered "roaming", tapped on:
    • ...SelectRoamingNetwork, Launch, I got the same as Mobile networks > Network operators.
    • ...DataRoamingSubMenuForATT, Launch, I got "International data roaming". It looked like what was mentioned on: https://www.cricketwireless.com/s...pport.html
  • Identify network operator: http://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=83076006&postcount=352
  • When it was on the AT&T network, under About phone > Network, it showed HSPA or HSPAP;
    • under Network operators > Search networks, current AT&T networks were named FreedomPop, in addition to T-Mobile networks that were available to select from.
  • When it was on the T-Mobile network, under About phone > Network, it showed UMTS or HSPAP;
    • under Network operators > Search networks, current T-Mobile networks were named FreedomPop, and AT&T networks were named "cricket".
  • Maybe it did not think it was roaming because the current network was always named FreedomPop (same as APN)?
  • I was unable to enable built-in Mobile Hotspot. Authentication was unsuccessful.

Settings > Apps, for each of the following, Disable, Delete data -> YES, ... with the factory version -> OK:
  • Cloud Print
  • Deezer
  • Docs
  • Drive
  • Google Play Books, Games, Newsstand
  • Google+
  • My Cricket
  • Sheets
  • Slides
  • Visual Voicemail
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Great price on a solid phone. I have the Tracfone version I use in my farms and they run nicely.

The screen isn't the highest resolution, but it does get quite bright, and it seems to have fairly good color accuracy and depth. I have a 2nd Gen Motorola Moto E as well which so many have bought recently on sale, and side by side, the Moto E has better resolution, but the LG has better colors. Overall, I prefer the display on the LG, despite the resolution deficit. It just seems less washed out and more pleasing to view, to me.

It's quite fast for a budget phone. There is very marginal lag when navigating quickly, but generally it's quite smooth, apps open reasonably fast, and run quite well. The camera takes decent photos for a 5MP sensor, and having a flash is a nice bonus, especially if you need a flashlight in a pinch. It's a fairly attractive phone compared to other similarly priced competitors (although that's subjective), however I will say the back cover does seem to scratch more easily than other phones I've had, as it's coated plastic, not just the color of the plastic itself.

If anyone has any other questions, feel free to ask. All things considered, this seems like a great deal at $20. I'm grabbin' 2 as backups. Thanks so much for sharing OP!

I am choosing between those 2 so helpful comparison. Performance wise, how do the 2 compare? And in any other significant ways? I know moto e lacks flash. Thanks!

Performance is about the same. The Moto E has a bigger battery, a slightly higher resolution display, and is more more resistant to scratching having a soft touch back...however the LG is better looking (in my opinion), has better colors (appears less washed out), and has a flash for the camera.

The other benefit to the Moto E (at least the AT&T GoPhone version) is it can be unlocked for free making them more versatile and valuable. That said, I have Cricket and don't plan to switch anytime soon. If you plan to use the phone daily, personally I would go with the LG...the display on the Moto E just sort of annoys me, as does not having a flash, but both are great phones for the money. It all depends on your needs and preferences Smilie

Cricket Risio recently received OTA Marshmallow update. Motorola has confirmed Moto E won't go beyond Lollipop in US markets.

Like luckydog, I prefer the Risio. To me, the Moto E seemed like an older device. The camera seemed subpar. LG also has some nice add-ons like announcing callerid and tap to wake and unlock.

This is an awesome deal. Got one.

Already had $50 in BB GC. Used almost all of that to buy this. Got the phone, a $25 BB GC recycle and $25 Cricket account balance to use on my ongoing Cricket service.

Basically, FREE PHONE.

this can actually be a very sweet deal even if u don't need the device. Unlock codes for the phone are like $2.75 on eBay, then can flip it for roughly $30 profit after fees. If your a existing cricket user, use the $25 best buy gift card for another $25 cricket credit. After all that, basically are getting $50 cricket credit and $15-$20 free. :/
