This same generator was featured on SD just a few weeks ago for a smoking deal of $230 shipped. Now it's $30 cheaper!

It's cheap insurance. A refrigerator/freezer full of food costs more. I picked up a Generac 5500 a few years back at Home Depot on clearance for $300. Make sure you fire it up twice a year for 10-20 mins to keep fuel from sitting too long and confirm it will start when you need it. Don't forget the Sta-bil.

During one power outage, I was running 4 sump pumps, 2 refrigerators and a freezer for myself and neighbors and it didn't break a sweat.

Generator noobie here. What kind of noise does this one make? Is it comparable to running a lawnmower? Doesn't the noise bother the neighbors if running at night? If I close the garage door, should I be worried about carbon monoxide? Thanks.

Generally pretty loud, and do not put it in an enclosed space for the reason you mentioned. If you want to appease the neighbors during an extended outage, offer them a connection for some lights and a fan Wink
