Thread Details

because i wanna hear what you think.

unless you're a whale, i'm feeling like vegas, particularly strip hotels, are starting to nickel and dime visitors.

a couple of instances which came up recently....

1. pay to park at self-parking, effective next week i believe. ranging $10-$25
2. $15 "upgrade" charge to a room with double beds
3. $30 an hour after the 1st hour of courtesy late check-out
4. monorail raised their price by 30%

Note paid parking is only for MGM properties- AFAIK the others aren't doing it (yet)

As to the monorail, it's rarely worth it anyway-you have to hike to the far rear of the casino most of the time, it only runs on one side (and again at the back side of that side)- and if you have 2 or 3 people in your group a cab is cheaper AND drops you at the front... likewise if you plan to take more than a couple trips in a day a car is just as cheap AND way more flexible in where it takes you...

They keep raising the price because nobody is using it and they can't pay their bills on current fares/ridership

You're not wrong about general nickle/diming though- especially at the MGM properties... google the MGM Profit Growth Plan sometime Smilie

How about the video poker bartops that you have to play through a bunch of coin in to get a free drink, you used to be able to get as many free drinks as you wanted.

One bright spot is LV has uber and lyft now which is a good way to save money that was previously spent on cab rides.

During my recent visit, I found the monorail so inconvenient. We went on the Deuces instead. Much more convenient. I also like the Uber and Lyft option, especially with the constant new rider promos. We saved a lot of money for transfers from airport to hotel and back since we didn't get a car for the whole trip. I don't like the designated hotel ride share areas though because it can get a bit messy trying to find the area and then finding our driver.

Hopefully in 5-10 years things will get better, I don't think I can go back after my busy weekend there. laugh out loud

It's exactly how my wife and I felt last April. Not like it used to be to say the least.
