Banggood US Warehouse has the Cheerson CX-10A CX10A Hadless Mode 2.4G 4CH 6 Axis RC Quadcopter RTF [banggood.com] for $4.69 after coupon code US20% with free shipping!

Price is now $6.29 after coupon

Left versus Right hand throttle: In the US Hobby industry most use left hand throttle and it's more desirable. For just having a toy for someone not into RC or with out plans on going deeper into the "drone" hobby the right hand throttle is a good choice to save a few bucks. Personally since I am into the hobby I stuck with the Left hand throttle.

Available in four colors:
  • Black
  • Gold
  • Silver
  • White
Ordering more than 3 caused mine to lose free shipping so order in quantities of 3 if you want several of them. (3 was $18 for me, so they discount at 3 or more it seems)

This is a great little quadcopter, great for learning the basics. I have multiple of them and they are tons of fun. Battery life is a few minutes and not "easily" replaceable. Charging (USB) doesn't take too long, only 15-30 minutes.

For those wondering you can turn headless on or off, if you press the throttle stick it has three "modes":
Each joystick is also "clickable". If you click on the left stick , you then change the mode:

1 BIP : juniormode (limited reactivity, perfect to get used with the machine)
2 BIP : Expert mode( maximum reactivity, it is the mode I am choosing as I am usually piloting.
3 BIP : Headless mode : (the direction of the headless mode is configured when youactivate it.You must then correctly orientate the dronewhen you activate this mode).

A good extensive review: http://www.dronebench.com/review-...uadcopter/

Not what I thought you would find by visiting banggood.com
Left hand throttle is much more popular in the united states. So if the person continues with the hobby they would have to relearn or buy right hand throttle remotes which are not as common in the US.

Personally I'd pay the extra for left hand throttle.

I highly suggest getting the Cheerson CX-10 CX-10A Parts Pack Protection Cover + Motor + Blade [banggood.com] for $2.71 (on sale too?) 1 Protection Cover + 2 Motor + 8 Blades
You will definitely need the blades. May not need the spare motor(s) but this price is cheaper than some of the blade only kits.

~4 if it's anything like mine.

Takes a while to learn how to control the little bugger though.

These are great little toys. Some of them also have 'secret' modes (secret if you don't read on the Internet)
that allow for quicker, more responsive flight or even a neat little automated flip.

Huge recommendation here - get a pack of replacement props, and a mesh grid thing to protect it until you're good at flying it. You will need new props often, and the mesh grid thingy really saves the frame. Also slows it down so it's easier to practice. Something like ASIN B00PGRNFE0 is less than four bucks and will save your bacon.

Under 5 for the right hand throttle model! Should edit the post to reflect lower price. I think a quad copter under $5 would really catch people's attention. Noobs like me don't really care about the standard conventions of the drone world.
