I was disappointed that I didn't get in on the AE Sale last week with my Amex $50 off offer. I received an AE catalog in the mail today with their Father's Day Sale that goes from June 2-19.

https://www.allenedmonds.com/merlot-collection/

In it are the following:
McAllister (6225): $245
Park Ave (5875): $245
Randolph (4839): $245
Maxfield (47717): $175
Fifth Ave (5736): $245
Strand (6175): $245

All in Merlot color, Available Online Only (but can be special ordered in-store). The Amex $50 off if you qualify would be on top of this and good until the 6th so a net price of $195 for those shoes is a great deal! The Amex offer requires a $250 purchase so you'll need to add some shoe polish [allenedmonds.com] to cover the $250 requirement on the Amex offer.

Link to Amex offer thread for more info.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Any thoughts regarding Chili vs Merlot? Online these colors look roughly the same and its hard to tell without seeing in person. If anyone has photos to compare that would be great.

If I remember correctly the amex off requires $250 purchase. So make sure you total after tax and shipping to be over $250

Thanks Leviathan. Are there any links I need to click/redeem amex offer or do I just need to spend 250$ plus? Thanks!

It's is an amex offer. Usually it shows up in your account and you have to add it to your amex card. I usually do it via the amex app on my phone and click on Offers. If it doesn't show up on your amex card, then you don't have it. Once added, use that amex card to make the purchase and after the purchase, it should email you saying you earned the cashback. I have done it for tons of purchases.

You need to actually have the offer. Don't buy without having it.

You need to log into your Amex account and make sure you have the Allen Edmonds offer added to your account first. If you don't have the offer, then you won't get a $50 statement credit.

Merlot is similar to oxblood or burgundy. It is a classic color for shoes - though I prefer them for classic oxfords (like the Park Avenue) or loafers. The merlot is probably on clearance because they now have "burgundy" which is probably a slightly different shade.

Chili is a much more casual color. It is lighter and has more light brown in it.

If you're going Park Ave or Fifth Ave, go merlot. Others are more up to you, but the only one I would consider in chili over merlot is the Strand (though I don't wear loafers).
