Per OP's title "starts 6/5 w/emailed code". Deals go live tomorrow.

As for me, I'm thinking about grabbing one of those OCZ drives. Been waiting too long for a deal on the 850 Evo and I just might bite on this.

Pretty slick at under $30 a TB. I was pretty happy with my 5TB Reds at under $33 a TB. I remember paying $500 for 1TB in 2006 I think it was.

You can use the WD red as a regular hard drive, can't you? It doesn't have to go into a NAS.

no worries, the NAS features don't impact desktop use

NAS drives are usually slower than desktop drives. WD red is slower than WD black/blue or Seagate DM series.

Thoughts on the 5TB WD My Book for $109? Reviews on Amazon aren't too high, with eight people giving an average three-star rating: http://www.amazon.com/Book-Extern...merReviews

Can anyone give feedback on the wd red vs the 4tb hgst nas that was in today's codes? From what I've read, wd reds have been unreliable recently, but it was such a small sample size. Is the price difference worth it?

I roll my eyes at these frys deals at this point. I just know I'll come to the store and they'll only have 2 on hand and I'll have wasted my gas and time

Do you need more than 1? Kind of confused as two should suffice.

Two of those one star reviews are Windows users who have their power settings putting the drive or the usb to sleep and have no relation to the drive itself / it isn't defective. The third is either a strip and switch where someone pulled the drive and returned it with a smaller drive it it, or a twunt that formatted it wrong.

You gave to read Amazon reviews to base anything on the score, because most people are idiots.

The new Blue drives essentially replace the old Green drives and are 5400 RPM too, for the models larger than 1TB.
