Turn off 4g, but still receive texts...

ElDorito 7,476 1,374 June 7, 2016 at 03:31 AM
I don't get good service in my house on my cell phone... I bought a network extender from verizon and still get dropped calls.. I turned on wifi calling, but sometimes it uses 4g/3g/1x etc... Is there a way to just leave wifi calling on while at home? I could turn on airplane mode, but then I believe texts are turned off... Basically, I want to put my phone in a mode where wifi calling is the only option, but still receive texts...

If you have wifi calling then why use the network extender at all? Just use your wifi. Which phone do you have? You should also be able to set wifi preferred over cell in most phones.

Is this an iPhone? They behave nicer over wifi with appletext or whatever that is called. You should be able to turn on Airplane mode and then turn on Wifi without issue on any device. I have done this many times to avoid roaming charges when traveling.

wifi calling doesn't use cellular data.

if you turn of cell data you'll still get sms but no mms.
