FINALLY a deal from Denver!
You would have been better off booking using cash, and using points for a higher valued redemption
are you serious? yeah risk might be elevated but being caught in something like that is likely close to a one in 10 million chance if not less. you are FAR more likely to be killed just driving down the highway or even being hit by lightening for that matter. go live life. just be alert while abroad as the most likely thing to happen is getting mugged.

I agree. I convert my chase points 1:1 to United Airlines miles. Better to use cash on this and save the points so you can use miles on something else.

2x round-trip Houston to Frankfurt would be 120K miles on United. While I would generally advise using cash in this case, this is a heck of a deal, and some people may not have the $830 for airfare. If they were planning to use points (120K, remember) for airfare and cash for other travel expenses, then this is still a huge win.

Still a good price, but keep in mind the changes coming to AA 8/1/16. As a base advantage member, you'll earn 5 miles per $1 fare (that's $100, BTW):

Fare Amount
Adult
1 × $100.00 USD
$100.00 USD
Taxes & Carrier-Imposed Fees
Taxes
$114.06 USD
Carrier-Imposed Fees
$200.00 USD
Price and Tax Information , Opens in a new window.
Flight Subtotal
$414.06 USD

You'll earn 500 miles for SFO > ZRH > SFO, as opposed to the 13,220 you would have before the changes.
