Deal Details

Last Edited by jersharocks June 9, 2016 at 07:03 AM
Just bought this and figured I'd share since previous FP was $480.

UPDATE: Price dropped from $505 to $486, thanks for the heads up TDMVP73

Jet.com [jet.com] has the Acer Aspire E 15 (E5-574G-54Y2) for $486.50 but you can lower the price quite a bit.

$486.50
-$10.70 waive free return
-$30.00 TRIPLE15 (new customer code, max $30 discount)
=======
$445.80 with FREE shipping and no tax in most states.

If you do not want to waive free returns, it is $456.80 after new customer coupon and you can still stack the AMEX or debit card savings.

You can save an additional $10 if you have a $10 off $50 Jet.com Amex offer - final price $435.80.

OR you can save an additional 1.5% ($7.14) if you pay with a debit card - final price $438.66.

If you are not a new customer, you may have received a 15% off coupon in the mail or via email. The max discount for that code is only $25 so price after that coupon would be $450.80 but you could stack the AMEX or debit card savings as well.

Retail price is $599.99 and next lowest retail price is $479.99 at Newegg [newegg.com].

Laptop Specs
  • Intel Core i5-6200U (2.3GHz) CPU

    • 1x USB 2.0
    • 1x HDMI
    • 1x VGA

This has dedicated graphics and 4gb more RAM (although this one has DDR3 and that one has DDR4) so it depends on whether you want to do any gaming at all. The card here is a GeForce 940M, not top of the line but not bad either. The majority of my gaming is the Sims and benchmarks are promising for Sims 4.

Also, this one has a 1920x1080 LED-backlit display whereas the $350 one has a 1366x768 display.

Previous deal from NewEgg if you want to read comments: http://slickdeals.net/f/8582866-acer-aspire-e15-e5-574g-54y2-core-i5-6200u-8gb-ram-gt-940m-2gb-1tb-hdd-1080p-15-6-490-at-newegg-with-f-s

Compared to the $350 Best Buy model - the Best Buy one has ONE more port: USB 3.0 C

The biggest NEGATIVE I see is that even though it has two GPU's, 940M, it can NOT do any higher of a resolution on the HDMI port. It's HDMI 1.4 - It's stuck at 4K @ 30Hz just like the ones with Intel 520 graphics.

Thanks for the heads up on the HDMI issue. I'm not too concerned about that but it's a good thing to note for anyone else reading. I'm upgrading from a really basic laptop (Dell 3531) so really anything is better than that, lol.

Here's the datasheet for it if anyone needs it.

Does Jet charge tax in NY? And would this be able to run Fallout 4 even on low or medium settings?

According to notebookcheck.net, the GPU can handle Fallout 4 at low settings but only at around 30-35fps. There are probably some mods out there that might help but honestly, I'd look for something a little better. Also, Jet does charge tax in NY.

Not according to the manufacturer's specs [acer.com] on their website. I think Best Buy made a mistake.

I am too. Read the Front Page note:

Note: The specs on item page show 1920x1080, but manufacturer's specs show 1366x768 resolution for the screen for this model.

Question about resolution notwithstanding--some say the BB unit isn't full HD--this one has dedicated graphics whereas the BB unit doesn't/
