This would be killer if AA would keep its distance-based AA program, but they are changing before this to fare-based like the other airlines. So the miles won't be much, but still a good deal if you want to go to Lisbon and Porto. Or, follow-on with Ryanair / Easyjet for cheap connections.

Agreed. Not as good for a mileage run, but for travel purposes, this is insanely cheap for Europe. To put it in perspective, this is a $100 fare, with $108 in taxes and $200 in fuel surcharges. The surcharges are ridiculous, but whatever. It is what it is.

That's impressive. Didn't think to look SFO. I will add that to the original post. Nice find!

how do you find these? They are out of my date range but I want to know how to look at them. Going from DTW or NYC to either London or Paris but not till next August (which those flights aren't out yet) but I want to know how to look.

I just checked EWR-LIS flight and there is a stop in PHL. Since, I live in Philly, can I just hop on the second leg of the flight? PHL-LIS comes up way more expensive...

One good tool to use is Kayak's explore tool. Check out kayak.com/explore. you enter your departure city and it shows you the destinations around the world and prices people have been able to get. You can filter by any time, or by a specific month.

This gets complicated if you're not careful. You would not be able to do this on the outbound because if you miss your first flight, they cancel the entire trip. It could work on the return though. When you land in PHL on the way back, you would pick up your bags at customs and immigration. Most customers then drop then again at a counter to be checked through to their final destination, but in your case, you would just grab your bag and leave. The last segment PHL-EWR would be a no show, but you'd have already completed your travel, so you'd be good.
