I hate this true statement
These LG OLEDs have kept any extremely high price point for a long time (they say due to manufacturing costs) but we all understand it is bc they have no rival. Anyone else with an OLED TV is currently using an LG OLED panel.

That said, thanks to these out the backdoor sales LG is having via BeachCamera, Adorama... thru their ebay store fronts it is allowing them to keep their artificially HIGH msrp retail prices in tact in stores like BB & Amazon. While at the same time giving them a way to offload inventory, move units, to happy SD people that can afford to bite at this price.

Price has been dropping incrementally but these 4K 55" arent going to be remotely close to $1000 by black Friday unless Samsung pulls a surprise OLED out this summer laugh out loud and that isnt happening.
There MAYBE some clearance pricing only if LG needs to move units out to make way for their new line.
The 55" 1080P IS possible to reach that $1000 price AREA but even that model was $400+ away at its best price in one of these out the back door sales. It may reach end of production before it even hits $1000 out the back. The LG OLED calender is not set for Spring time rollouts so it will be interesting to see what this years new models do to pricing.

While the 55" 4K have been actively dropping in increments the 1080P has been frozen now for a while price-wize.

Plus the majority of BLK friday TV deals are NOT high end TVs.
SDs has proven year after year that Blk Friday, Christmas, New Years, Superbowl are NOT the best time to buy high end TVs like these.
Yeah, but then you'll want something more advanced for the same price in that time.

Trying to wait for this to hit $1500 but I'm not sure that it ever will.

No chance it'll hit 1000 by the end of the year. Probably $1299.

I ordered this when Beach Camera had it on sale with a code for $1949. It came double boxed from FedEx with signature required, the outer box had BuyDig written on both sides. I went with the 55EF9500 over the 55EG9100 because of the curve. Looking at both at a local Frys I could not get over that curve. I went with Beach Camera as they are listed as being an LG Electronics Authorized Online Dealer. Also went through LG Premium Care to get the warranty extended three more years for a total of four years warranty for around $180.

By black Friday or next year it will definitely sell for $1000, TV prices fall fast because of advance in TV technology.

4k is nice, but there is really no reason to get this over the 1080p model at 55" Not enough of a difference.

Now at 65"+, 4k will definitely make a difference.

I'm not so sure. Yields are getting better in production for OLEDs. At first, only 10% of the panels made could be sold. Now they're up to 50%. LCD is about 90%

Though LG sort of has the large OLED market cornered right now. Hopefully other panel makers will start selling them.
