Why spend $500 on a crappie 4K display now when there is minimal content, not to mention a decent display is what, $1000? And an Ultra HD player will set you back at least $400, and movies around $30. Not to mention I can spend $350, essentially, on a nice 1080P set and wait for better 4K TVs drop in price and end up spending around the same for 2 TVs and be satisfied now and later.

Deciding between this one and the Costco HCL one with the Roku built in. Any thoughts on which way to go?

Do you mean the TCL roku tv? I have the Sharp roku tv and they're pretty much the same tv. Mine is a 50 inch tho. I love my roku tv. Has a good picture, sound is good, and everything is easy to set up and find.

TCL has 4k and a better interface (Roku) but the Vizio has better picture quality. I'm deciding between these two as well.

Yeah the TCL. I'm torn as well. Typically just watch sports/Netflix or stream from my computer. Deciding if 4K is worth sacrificing some picture quality

Torn too. The Vizio is considerably cheaper and have employee discount, but the TCL is 4k and costco warranties. Ugh.

$498 @ Walmart, available for pick for some. http://www.walmart.com/ip/VIZIO-D...V/48194208

It obviously doesn't come with a gift card.

Why would anyone get 1080p when the content will move over to 4k in the next few years?

Considering 4k won't do you any good at 55 inches unless your nose is pressed up against the glass there really is no need for 4k.

I'm ALSO debating between this Vizio and the 55" 4K TCL (Sam's Club for me). It seems crazy to not buy something 4K, but as others have said.... we're at least two years away from regular programming switching over + 4K sets with HDR won't be in this price range for awhile + (like many people) I sit about 10' from my TV which makes the extra resolution not that big of a deal anyway for a 55" set.

The nice Roku TCL interface is nice and all, but if you've got an Apple TV/Console/Roku Stic/etc... They'll all give you the same functionality.
