While he's not necessarily wrong, it was pretty condescending. He's not wrong because of pixel density / pixels per inch (PPI.)

For a 21.5 inch screen with a 1920×1080 resolution we get 102.46 PPI

For 27 inch screen with a 2560x1440 resolution we get 109 PPI.
(math --- sqrt(2560^2+1440^2)/27)

27in @1080 is 81 PPI. It's not good. While it's possible that it might be a personal preference, at 33% more pixels the general consensus is that you can definitely see it (often can even see each individual pixel, and once you have higher PPI you'll never ever want to go back to less than 100PPI.
Your statements are very opinionated and it really depends on your preference/application/distance/eyesight. I happen to think there's nothing wrong with 1080 on a 27 inch.

How is this monitor? I was thinking about the hp 25 inch monitor http://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-25...Id=5029703 . I was budgeting around $150+ tax. 24-27 inch doesn't matter

Its 60hz, they do not post it because they want to hide low-end aspects of this monitor.

Does it really matter? 1080p on a 27" is idiotic and a total waste of money.

I don't think hes around to be very helpful. if you are used to 1080p and are fine with it you would be just fine esp for this price range you are not likely to find a great 1440p monitor

Generally the consensus is that if you're doing 1080p, you don't want to go bigger than 24" and imo the sweet spot for 1440p is 27"
