Home Depot has the Husky 26 in. 6-Drawer Tool Chest and Rolling Tool Cabinet Set, Black - $99 w/ free to store shipping [homedepot.com]

Front Page Fathers Day special from last year is back. This is a special buy. Comes with both the rolling tool cabinet and top tool chest. Mostly good reviews online, most negative reviews are about shipping problems, not the box itself.

This is the best 6-Drawer Chest and Cabinet Combo you will ever find at this price. It's packed with features usually found in much higher priced tool chests and cabinets. Drawers with ball bearing slides roll great even when fully loaded. Totally key lockable; no cumbersome lock bars to deal with. Full-length aluminum drawer pulls for easy access. 2 doors in the cabinet for larger tools and supplies. Large Top Chest till area with reinforced chest lid for strength.
  • Chest drawers: 21.6 in. W x 10.4 in. D x 1.9 in. H; cabinet drawers: 21.9 in. W x 13.8 in. D x 3.1 in. H
  • Lockable bulk storage area in cabinet is perfect for larger tools and household items like paint cans and cleaners
  • Reinforced chest lid for strength
  • Internal keyed locking system for security; 2 keys included
  • 4 in. swivel casters (2 with toe lock) for easy mobility
  • All steel construction with a powder coat paint finish for long-lasting toughness and durability
  • Full-extension 50 lbs. rated ball bearing slides for smooth drawer operation

I used to have a Husky, and wasn't pleased with it. The metal was very thin. I didn't expect it to last very long, so I sold it. I purchased a Harbor Freight unit instead, and it's of much higher quality (that's not something I usually say about HF).

how does it compare to the harbor freight tool cart that is often on sale for $17x?

The Home Depot version is $7x cheaper?

Sorry, I tend to chuckle at questions like this where people ask about relative differences of products nearly 100% different in price.

Anyways to salvage any bit of usefulness from this post, I have this chest as well as the set that was on clearance over the course of 2015. I am a weekend-only garage warrior and these sets are high value at this sale price and super high value at the clearance prices and meet my needs as well as probably 95% of typical users easily.

Use the $7x savings to fill your new Husky tool chest with gear!

What was the original price on this? Since the $99 is showing on the website and says not sold in stores, it seems it may be a sale / temporary drop as opposed to clearance.

I want to say the normal price is $150, but I could be wrong. I do know that this was a 'popular deal' a while back at $129

I am pretty sure I saw these in my store the other day, so they might be clearancing them in stores. I will check after work

Original price was 149.99. I saw two the other day and they had a sign on them stating something about holding till the weekend of Father's day.

50lb rated slides.

That is usually getting down to what your non-ball bearing drawers are rated. Ball bearing drawer for higher end (more expensive) chest are rated at 75lbs and 100lbs.

Good for price just don't think it is a $250 tool chest at a deal.

Normal price is $150 HOWEVER these are "special buy" items, meaning they aren't stocked normally throughout the year and you'll see them pop up around Fathers Day, Black Friday, etc...
