Was in store to pick up a ship-to-store order here in Florida and saw the awful sign that was up everywhere in store saying this store was no longer accepting any ad price matches (other than Walmart.com) starting today 06/09.

Went online & couldn't find a list yet of which 500 supposedly random stores of theirs had this implemented today...an article about it if anyone wasn't aware: https://consumerist.com/2016/05/2...which-500/

They should seriously have this on their website somewhere, would save me a trip thinking I could price match here and other locations in the future.

Edit: another 300 was added on August 1st https://consumerist.com/2016/08/1...al-stores/

After seeing a woman price match every item in her (very) full cart, it's probably a good idea.

Step 1: Drive out all competitors.
Step 2: Stop being competitive.

They're under intense pressure from Amazon though.

Does savings catcher work like Citi Price Rewind? Because, if so, then it doesn't actually work.

Citi Price Rewind is supposed to automatically refund the difference of any item you register if it finds a price that's lower. This includes Black Friday. I did this for an item at Best Buy. I bought it in advance, gave the exact item number, verified it worked on Black Friday, and then... nothing. I had to manually submit the claim.

Point being, I'm pretty doubtful of this automatic scanning nonsense. Granted it's a different company/program, but Citi allegedly was scanning Best Buy among other major retailers and they somehow manged to "miss" a $60 price difference. Convenient.

I think they are trying to be competitive with Amazon, so they have to make their store and online prices more uniform, hence they get rid of price match. They just started their own $50 two day shipping sub.

Not really, I only switched over to Walmart since they PM'd say Amazon. Now.... I can just sit on my ass and order online.

What's weird is for the longest time they would PM everyone but walmart.com. Now they will only PM walmart.com.

Savings Catcher actually works, but AFAIK, it only does the bigger stores. So if you have a local store that puts out ads but isn't that big, you might still need to do a manual price match.

Thank god for Target. I haven't had to step foot in the cesspool of Walmart for a couple years.

Well that did give Walmart some money. Pricematch is the only reason I shop B&M.

What do you think that Target and Best Buy aren't next? Looks like it's the sign of the times.

Remember when traveling by air was pleasant and checked baggages were free.

Looks like we are going down this same route. Shopping comparison sites are going to be more popular than ever.

Why would they do-away with the policy? Can't they just change the policy like Target?
