Support the store that brought you the deal ...Best Buy (BTWs they had a cardboard kiosk filled with $5.99 (sale continues this week - see the thread posted last Sunday for the $5.99 blu-rays). We don't need a separate one every time Amazon
decides to glommed on to it for a few hours, or days.

Good deal but an interesting 1 star review about this version not being up to par for blur-ray standards.

There are two versions. First release was all DNR, I heard.

The 'combo pack' is the one you want. I own it, and it is a glorious looking Blu-Ray. http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Pat...ray/55325/

The problem as always is the Amazon lumps all reviews together so it's nearly impossible to tell which "this" item is beinn reviewed -- VHS, DVD, streaming, various BD releases.
The 2012 remastered version in the OP is great. Just stay away from the 2008 edition

Pre-SPR/BoB era, this easily in a top 5 in war movies.

Thanks for the comparisons. Looking at that, this remastered version looks nice and crisp, while the 40th anniv edition looks blurry as hell.

Nearest Best Buy that has it in stock for me is 45mi away (even with 2 stores ~16mi apart.) otherwise I would support them first. Thanks for the heads up about the different quality BluRay releases.

I wonder how the DVD copy fairs, I usually give out the DVD to family in combo packs.

It's a shame Amazon doesn't have it in stock would be a good Father's Day gift.
