A "refurbished" SSD? With no moving parts I'm confused...

OCZ was acquired by Toshiba, so my guess is these products are being discontinued and can't be sold as new. Thus, refurbished.

SSDs can have a bad controller, bad NAND, be bricked due to bad ROM update.
so a swapped part is feasible
- of course there also server spares, or secure-erased OEM system drives.

The 240gb version of the drive is $45. Pretty tempting but 90 day warranty just not worth it. Maybe a year. Willing to pay an extra $10~15 for similar 240gb drive for an extra 990 days of coverage.

I find it odd that the last 2 times the Eco3 was posted at this price it was front page - but this time it's not getting any traction at all...

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

SSD's are getting cheaper everyday. What was a deal yesterday may not be a deal today. What's odd about that?

I got a crucial m500 512gb refurb for $100 about a year & a half ago still going strong. I would get another refurb.

Bit on the OCZ drive. It's no 850 Evo, but the color scheme matches my Acer Timeline X beautifully. Thanks OP!

I'm really considering getting one too. They get dogged on so much though. That price is really appealing though.

This is going into my laptop which doesn't get much usage anyways. Whatever risk of data loss there is won't impact me all that much (data redundancy is full of win). I already have the 850 Evo in my main rig, which I use daily and even then, I only have my OS and programs on it. I keep everything else on my 4TB WD Black. At some point, I will end up swapping the OCZ for an 850 Evo and turning the OCZ into a high speed back up drive.

Hmm, anyone happen to know if the hard drive inside STEB8000100 8TB is archive drive or not?
I know there is a different model for seagate back up plus which has archive drive but not sure about this one.
