LOL, at least be honest. A tiny site like this needs to shell out 20%+ to place an ad on SD.

You're not much of a patriot are you? These islands serve a key geostrategic role in maintaining the American Empire. We've got an air force base there.

You can get return airfare for $560 from Boston to Madiera in Jan 2017. If you pick 13th to 27th Jan 2017 deal it costs $1033.

Use a certain CB site for at least 5% CB and your net cost is $980, out of which $560 is airfare and $420 is hotel+breakfast for 13 nights, or about $32/night per person, or $64 per room since it's double occupancy.

I checked the rates for hotel for Madeira you can get hotels for $50/night in Jan 2017, and Azores is $80/night.

So total cost if you try to replicate the deal on your own is $560 (airfare) + $350 (7 nights @ $50/night) + $400 (5 nights @ $80/night) = $1300.

If you buy this deal through AzoresGateaway 1 year in advance, you're basically getting it for $980.

13 nights is still available it seems. Look - https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/704...1c28_o.png [staticflickr.com];
There's a flaw in your calculations - since it's double occupancy requirement, you have to calculate both scenarios based on 2 people to get an actual comparison - or someone find out what the "single person fee" is and factor that into the calculation.

All prices are per person, based on double/twin occupancy.Single travelers must pay an extra fee.
If you factor in double-occupancy, then this costs $980 PP x 2 = $1960 for 2 via this package site.

Doing it yourself, it would be $560 x 2 = $1120 for airfare + $750 for hotel for both occupants = $1870 for 2 people. And then whatever the breakfast runs you. That works out to $935 each doing it yourself.

Wow you are right, thanks for catching that. You have to add in the cost of airport transfers + breakfast + Madeira to Azores for 2 people. Doesn't seem like much of a deal since you're paying 6 months in advance and giving up the flexibility.

My great-great grandparents came from the Azores Islands. Beautiful place for nature lovers. I would love to go sometime, but we just bought those $400 tickets from Phx to Spain. Smilie

Islands are absolutely stunning. Went to San Miguel a few years back, and would go back there in a second if we had the time!
