After a decade+ lurking on SD, finally found a deal that I hadn't yet seen posted that was worth creating an account to share.

SCAA cert'd coffee maker at it's lowest price ever. $150 on Amazon and BBB, beating previous low of $160. Make it extra Slick by signing up for BBB's email list and receive an introductory 20% off coupon. (Or use one of the seemingly endless coupons they send in the mail.)

Yup, it's a lot to spend on a coffee maker - but for a highly reviewed SCAA brewer 40% off normal price, I was finally willing to take the plunge and move away from my Chemex.

good price, but why is this any better than the bonavita 1900 (especially since it works with a chemex?)

Nice. I went ahead and bought one for $120+ tax from Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I earned an extra 5% cash back clicking through the rewards section on my Discover card as well.

It should be a nice step up from my almost six year old Cuisinart DCC-1200 brewer.

3 reasons for me. All minor. But enough for me to pay a little extra for the OXO.
  1. Timer, so I can wake up to hot, fresh coffee
  2. 1-4 cup setting, which alters the water flow and timing to optimize brewing for smaller servings
  3. Just looks better, more elegant design IMO

If you've already got a Bonavita, it's probably not worth the upgrade. It's not going to make better coffee. But if you're deciding between the two. The extra features make the OXO the better machine IMO.

Wow, nice - wonder if I should cancel my order and go through this rewards link as well, though at that point I may not be able to reuse my 20% coupon and risk losing out on the deal to save another few bucks. Decisions decisions.

Will this make my coffee taste better? I bought an expensive Keurig ($150) coffee maker to replace my old Mr Coffee cheapo and really could not tell the difference.

Keurig is about convenience, not quality.

Whether this will make a difference depends on the coffee you're using and your personal taste.

If you're using Folgers, save your money.

If you're happy with the coffee from your Keurig, save your money.

If you're buying and grinding freshly roasted whole beens, but you're not happy with the taste form your current machine, if it's not matching the coffee from your favorite coffee shop, this or the Bonavita are worth trying. BBB has a pretty good return policy, so you can take it back if you're not impressed.

I like mine. Just be aware, the first couple of pots I made had a noticeable plasticky taste, even though I ran a couple pots of plain water through it first. It goes away after the first few brews though, and I've been happy with it since.

I just won another award at my company, which always comes with a cash reward. I never ever use these rewards for paying bills or credit cards. I won the award for a job well done, and so I always spend it on something special. This is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. I have signed up with BBB to make it slick, so I'll wait for the email with the 20% and then make it happen.

I give you my thanks for posting this, plus a thumbs-up and a set of reps to you. These are the kinds of things that keep me coming back to Slick Deals every day, even after 11+ years.
