How to determine what router is right for me? Or best router for the money.

Hey guys. I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to computer stuff. I know how it works and can generally understand most when explained to me. Or if you just have a suggestion on the best router for the money please post it below.

From this latest run of walmart sales I bought two routers I'm thinking about using in this new house I'm moving too. Finally getting rid of comcast and now using charter. However, they don't provide a router and my old old from the house before the one I'm leaving is so old and yeah..

I got the ASUS RT-AC68R ($99) and Netgear R6300 ($35)

https://www.amazon.com/RT-AC68R-W...entries*=0
https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Ro...gear+r6300

Are either of these worth keeping at this price or should I return them? Do you guys have another one you'd suggest? Or could someone explain to me how to understand the specs on the side of a router box?

EDIT: Info about me. Mostly netflix streaming but some gaming.

Is the R6300 v2? Does it have a blue usb 3.0 port?
If it's the v1 then I wouldn't keep it. Flip it on Craigslist or something.

But if it is v2, then I'd keep it. The performance is roughly on par with the 68R for most people, and it's a LOT cheaper. Also that 68R isn't much of a deal at $100.

I think it's v1 I don't see any info on the box and can't figure out how to add a picture via mobile.

From the box art the USB port doesn't say 3.0 and isn't blue so I think it's 2.0

What would you buy if money wasn't an option. I mean ideally under $250. I'd prefer lower like in the $100 or less range. But, don't mind spending some if I'll notice a doffrencr

the r6300v2 box would have a beamforming logo on the front. Also it's more square than the v1. V1 is more of a horizontal rectangle and uses a large ac adapter.

Here's a picture I took earlier when I was in a hurry was starting to rain. I would take a better one now but it's in the car and I'm dry >.> lol. Like I said pretty sure V1. So whats considered top of the line routers and are they worth it? Or will a midline do?

Apparently brickseek says some of the stores around me still have the Linksys EA8500 for $69. I looked once but I need to go back anyway for a few supplies for moving. If they have it for $69 is that worth it?
