edit: can't use this groupon and the spring 2016 code.
Groupon has an HP voucher deal right now. you can knock $120 off this. Nice deal.

$160 to go 8GB to 16GB. Hell no. I configured for the i7 and left the RAM at 8. I'd need to research this laptop a bit. Anyone know if it's good for gaming? Cooling and whatnot.

Edit: can't find any reviews or details on this particular model. I find an older one with green lights and stuff. I think I'll hold off. $720 isn't too bad for i7 and 960M (4GB).

Surely the dell Inspiron 7559 is the better option? Same specs or better for 700 yesterday?

The specs look good for the price. I would suggest dropping the RAM upgrade and getting an i7. I did this and went with a touch screen. My total would be $720. One thing to note is that I don't have any idea how long the Groupon will take to arrive and also how long the sale will last. I also don't know much about the laptop such as if the RAM is upgradeable and if the cooling is good enough for gaming.

edit: can't use this groupon and the spring2016 code.

I wonder why there's a DVD drive option but not a Blu-Ray. If the Groupon did stack, that would be a truly awesome deal at ~$600 for a real beast.

You tell me. For $20 more I get a touchscreen and trade the 1TB drive for a 256GB NVME SSD They are very similar. This looks better to me, but I can't find any reviews. I also hate all the fugly red gaming laptops like the Y700. The Dell isn't too bad looking.

For 20 more that's fine but for 140 more maybe not. Depends on the groupon deal I guess?

Problem with HPs is they tend to overheats a lot and the drivers have issues

I would suggest Lenovo Y700 series
http://slickdeals.net/f/8809663-lenovo-ideapad-y700-15-core-i7-6700hq-8gb-ddr4-128gb-pcie-ssd-1tb-hdd-gtx-960m-4gb-external-dvd-rw-850-with-f-s?src=catpagev2

Has better processor, ssd+hdd combo, build quality
Why? Customize it with the i7 as I suggested. If you factor in the Groupon the Y700 is over $100 more. Also, regarding the build quality, How do you know the Y700 is better than this HP? I was in BestBuy yesterday and wasn't too impressed with the Y700 (it was ok). I have been around several HPs and their quality was decent. Nothing fancy as they were budget models.

Has anyone verified that you can combine Groupon and SPRING2016 promo code? Groupon fine print says "cannot combine with other coupons" and sale is final for the groupon, if it won't work.

I spoke with CS and they told me that the groupon would not work with coupon code SPRING2016 as there is only one slot to put the coupon code.

Lame. I'll edit my previous posts so I don't cause confusion. I thought it was more like a voucher rather than a discount code.
