I think this has become a "regular" price as you can almost find that every week here or there.

I would hold off on the stick and wait for a new one, I have a Fire TV, Fire TV 4k and 2 fires sticks and I hate using the sticks they are so slow compared to the Fire TV's.

I haven't seen any articles regarding a potential release date on a new stick.

I have the $39 Fire stick connected to my 5G networks which is a 1300 band.
Never had buffering
It's pretty fast.
Works well will all the prime stuff.
Has almost all the channels except VUDU.
Added Kodi.tv and that works fine too., of course I tweeked the KODI setting so it doesn't buffer either.
The remote is quality, and loading the Channels is quick. Netflix and HULu play well.
Prime Video is just fine.

What's the point of bundling with an antenna?

That's how to change the cache. However, most times the issue is actually the network connection itself. I would use a 5ghz connection if u can ... (which means u have a dual band router and are close to the router since the range on 5ghz is limited.)
