If I needed them, I'd definitely jump on this. Sooooo much better than the welded-up cheapie 2 1/4 ton.

good deal, will replace some cheapies I have. Never felt comfortable using the cheapies laying under a heavy car - from what I read, these are quite solid.

combined with points back coupon, got it for $23 with $17 back in points

As a general rule of thumb, even though they only support a portion of the vehicle you should use jack stands that are rated at the total weight of your vehicle. Higher weight rated jack stands give you even more of a margin of safety, but they are often taller than lower weight rated stands and depending on your vehicle and jack they may be too tall to properly place under your vehicles support points.

I was about to buy it but then saw this below review:

"Upon first inspecting the stands, I noticed that the paint was all scratched and marred up from the pieces rubbing together. It seems that they applied a very thin coat of paint that can easily come off. The poor packaging that they transport these in is partly to blame as well. Second, the jack stands are rated for 4 tons AS A PAIR. They do not describe that in the description. I was under the impression that these were 4 ton-rated per jack stand. You can also see from the product picture, that the yellow part is marked as "4 TON" which adds to the deception. Third, the welds were not the most confidence inspiring welds and they greatly vary from one stand to the next. One of my stands has decent straight welds, while the other one looks like it was welded by a drunken man. This leads me to believe that Craftsman's quality control is rather poor. Also, the flat part of the feet that comes into contact with the pavement is lightly tack welded. Time will tell how durable how these will last. Lastly, adding to the deception, my stands came in with a warranty slip for 1 YEAR WARRANTY. "

Not a dumb question. I used a set for years to hold the front axle up on my big Craftsman tractor. Just have to lift it up somehow.
