There really is no basic functionality difference in the kids model other than being able to lower the speed/vibration level. I have a 10 year old and 8 year old who use this model. My 8 year old doesn't like the vibration but is able to handle it. My 10 year old does just fine with it. The extra speed level is the only reason I could say to go with the kids version, but some people like the other stuff like bluetooth sync for the app to help kids brush. Your call there.

This is completely, and utterly false. Do you normally just say things without doing research or knowing what you are talking about? This model has 31,0000 brush strokes per minute which is the same as their Diamond Clean model. The only difference is the head it comes with (you can go buy a diamond clean head if so desired) and brush modes, which are generally useless. This toothbrush far exceeds what any manual toothbrush could even begin to offer.

What do you use otherwise? It really isn't that loud considering all other models on the market. You really wouldn't like Oral-B since it has one small, circular head and is meant to go tooth by tooth. It's also generally louder than Sonicare. This model is about as good a deal as you're going to get.

Here [animated-teeth.com] is a website that speaks to the different models, and brush heads, for those with questions/concerns how it works. And, no, I'm not shill for Sonicare, I'm just a single dad with two boys who values time and functionality as much as I can. I came from using a Oral-B and I like this line better. My two cents.

Does anyone have a young kid (5-8 years) who uses one of these? I was looking at the kids version but don't see why it's $40 compared to $30 for this.
