I have the 4.5's and really like them. I primarily use them for streaming from my mobile devices (don't use it for my PC).

Sound is very "clean" & easily fills the 16' x 12' room I keep them in.

I think I paid around $170 from an SD early last year.

I got the 4.5 from Adorama last year for about $100 or less. The sound is better than TV speakers sound. Is good for monitor also.

They are very nice computer speakers (not bass heavy if that's your thing). That's actually why I initially bought them and what I used to use them for. My desk space got smaller so I now use some smaller cheap Lenovo speakers. When I did use them for my PC I used them hardwired... don't know if it's the case with all bluetooth speakers when used with a desktop but there was like a half second delay (as if they needed to be woken up) when connected to my PC with bluetooth. Wasn't a huge deal but they were kept right near my PC so I hardwired them.

Been using the 4.5 on my pc paired with a sunfire true subwoofer jr. and it filled my 20x20 room more than enough. I like the Bluetooth because I'll just stay in bed with my phone and have some wireless music.

Edit: I also make it go through my modi 2 dac sounds warm.

I've got the 3.5s; damn they're a nice sounding pair. I listen to a wide range of music, podcasts, talk radio and they all sound wonderful coming out of those speakers. the bass is a little lacking but I would definitely recommend these to anyone.

Doesn't paying a relatively high price for Bluetooth speakers kind of defeat the purpose with the loss in audio quality?

You're right. These definitely do not sound like hardwired speakers.
However, they are about as good as it gets for sub-$100 Bluetooth (wireless) speakers,
Even on the beach, they rock pretty loud and will wake-up your entire cubicle...
