I did not see this posted so thought to share. This seems to be a targeted offer, but worth a try (YMMV). This offer expires on 6/30/2016.

Check your eligibility here [theexplorercard.com] and then apply with at least one authorized user.

This is what I got:
  • 70,000 bonus miles
    • Get 70,000 bonus miles after you spend $3,000 in the first 3 months your account is open.
  • 5,000 bonus miles
    • Earn 5,000 bonus miles after you add the first authorized user to your account and make a purchase with your Card during the first 3 months your account is open.
  • $50 statement credit
    • Enjoy a $50 statement credit after your first purchase with the MileagePlus Explorer Card. If you make your first purchase today, your first purchase and statement credit will post on the same statement.
  • 10,000 bonus miles
    • Each calendar year, you are eligible to receive one 10,000-mile bonus after you reach $25,000 in net purchases on your Card.
You can earn up to 85,000 miles if you are a big spender.

Question for the pros here:
I currently have a MileagePlus card from 2013, can I cancel the current card before applying and available this offer?

$95 annual fee not waived in the first year. No $50 statement credit at least on my 50k offer. After $50 credit on 70k offer annual fee is only $45.

If you don't see the offer, try this:
Log into your United Explorer account. Then paste this link into the browser: https://www.theexplorercard.com/70k50ICLTO

Some sites suggest having this card makes it easier to get award seats, in which case it might be worth it if you use awards a lot. See:http://millionmilesecrets.com/201...orer-card/

Per Chase CSR, if you earn the same reward in the past 24 months you will not qualified. For example, you got the card on June 2014 and earn your bonus miles on September 2014, you will need to wait until after September 2016 to reapply. - Hondaman82

there is a draconian 5/24 rule for many Chase cards including the United card.
If you've got five or more credit cards (all credit cards, not just Chase, even authorized user cards count) you'll get denied

Wow... that is an unusually good offer !

I didn't scour the fine print,
many cards these days have
gone to one offer per lifetime,
but maybe not.

edit:
I am only offered 30K+5K w/ $1K spend.
Still... 35K can be worth $400 in cash, so not bad !
And the club passes are worth some cash too !

I applied and only pending, not approved,
I have 2 other Chase cards so ...

$95 annual fee and you lose the bonus miles if you close the account. Still a good deal if you use the miles within the first year or 2 and then cancel.

You don't lose the bonus miles if you close the account. The miles are added to United, which is separate from Chase.

This is a great offer for the intro bonus.Without the targeted offer, you will get only 50K when the promo is on. Regularly, it is 30K.

As a cardholder myself, I can say that the card itself offers little perks or benefits. You get a free checked bag on domestic United, that is the main value. But you do not earn double points EXCEPT on United purchases. I basically only use this card when I buy United tickets. Do not use anywhere else because you get 1:1.

On INTL flights, United already gives you a free bag and this card DOES NOT give you another free additional bag. You also do not get any United status bumps. They do give you 2 club passes, but United Clubs are quite crappy in my opinion (very little food, although there is free booze). I have free access to much better lounges so I do not even use this benefit.

If you fly United a lot, this card is good for you because you get double points for United purchases and a free bag each time. However, you can get the same with Chase Sapphire Preferred with their 50K intro offer (another Chase card), and that gives you double points at all dining and all travel including airfare, rental cars, taxis, parking, tolls, etc.). Signup bonus is great though--if you have great credit, just signup and cancel within a couple years--you can get the bonus once every 24 months just FYI.

Worth it for the signup bonus alone, but I would not recommend using anything but United spending on this card because you will not be rewarded that nicely.
