Yeah, they did it because Visa cards aren't good at Costco till June 20th. It was pushed back from an earlier date.

I had no idea that after June 20th you would be able to use your regular credit card, that is awesome!

FYI

****Does not include gas, fuel, wholesale club specialty service purchase such as travel, insurance, cell phone and home improvement. Check with your local wholesale clubs to see if your Chase Freedom card is accepted. The listed merchant(s) are not sponsors or co-sponsors of this program. All marks are the property of their respective owner(s).

That being said, in my chase account wholesale club is listed along restaurants. So 1500 limit applicable to wholesale clubs as well or just only for restaurants.

Edit: To maximize benefit, last time I have ordered costco cash card and used it for purchases and fuel as VISA is not accepted instores . However this time (and last time, where fuel does not come under 5% cat) . I think using costco cash card will benefit with fuel purchase.

Does anyone know if the 5% points back applies to purchasing new tires from the tire center?

I don't see why it wouldn't, you're buying the tires at Costco, so it should count as a Costco purchase. I know the gas doesn't count.

Others have confirmed that they did indeed receive the bonus points for the transaction.

When you return something at costco...return reduces points by 1% while original purchase earned points at 5%...so 4% benefit without spending anything...I saw this my CC statement when i returned something at costco...
