I bought one when it came out. Wish I had waited for the Shield. It is an OK box that does some Android TV stuff well with the exception of Netflix, not that I need that. I really thought the controller would work better though. Mine has incredible lag, even after sending in the entire system for an RMA. Better, but not great. Considering this deal depends on the controller, which is laggy as hell, doesn't seem like a great deal. This is just my experience, but thought I would share. Maybe others have had a better experience.

I'll never buy a Android TV box after the abandoned clusterfark that was Google TV.

I have this on first release and it's collecting dust on my tv stand. Crappy UI. NO SUPPORT WHAT'S SO EVER! I can install Kodi but everything else is not really there. The games are not that great. For $100 I rather get a Shield...waste of money. Razer overpriced this crap. Controller is shitty too...

I bought one on launch too. Ended up returning it and buying a shield when that came out. WAY better, in every possible way.

Have they still not updated it? Or did the update basically fix nothing & it is crappy as it ever was?

I almost bought one when they had a 50% off day like 6 months back. Was banking on the promise of the (then) recently announced (but unreleased) software update that included fixes & Ouya integration. Figured maybe it could improve the thing to be worth $50 since hardware-wise it seemed capable. Ultimately decided not to, but was hopeful that update would improve things for those that already owned one. Guess that hope was in vain.

Honestly it was the controller that made me return it. I figured they would update too, but the controller was just so bad - and software updates wouldn't help with that.

I turned it on after I moved and it update to a new Android 5.1? but still crap...Netflix still not compatible. Still laggy. I just want to throw it at the wall but that's $120 right there so I left it on my tv stand again, that was like 4 months ago..lol

Yep! Control is so shitty...feels hollow and cheap not to mention why do you need batterie and a micro usb port to charge?? I never understood that.

Nexus player is still kicking strong. I'm hoping dev kicks off for it. Google has abandoned Google TV twice now, so I hear you. Horrible implementation discouraged many from initially purchasing the nexus player I believe. No wired LAN, no standard USB, no micro SD, no optical out, 8gb of storage. Most of these issues can be solved through otg, but the average consumer isnt resourceful.

Most reviews express the same experience... The UI on this unit is garbage. Too many bugs and no updates. If you're looking to have a gaming/tv media device get the Nvidia Shield or if you just want to watch movies/tv wait for Mi Box, which is coming soon with an est. cost of about $90.
