Thread Details

Hi - I have some promotions that I want to use in buying gold bars from eBay. At this moment stock gold price for 1 oz is at $1284 but I've been some listings for like $1305, etc.

Has anyone bought and sold gold from eBay before?

I want to buy like 2 or 3 bars and then immediately sell. Where is the best place to sell? Are there any reputable online dealers people have dealt with or even local chains?

Thanks

Ebay is not a good place to buy and sell gold , go to Forex market to buy and sell

Most places that sell also buy albeit at a small spread. You might want to check with the place you will be buying from and tell them you will be doing a buy/sell immediately and avoid the shipping. I doubt they will mind they will make $100 on the deal.

This reminds me of the Bing Cashback days when you could buy almost anything and make money off it immediately

the place we buy ours is a local pawnshop/gun shop where we pay cash and we choose the graded coins guaranteed by NGC and/or PCGS.

Those were the damn days I was pretty new to that definitely thinking about it now would of been a smart move to do it in the beginning before sellers got greedy and uped their prices and kill the whole point of the whole bing cash back. Either way I think it be smart to buy (just be careful), but not resell on Ebay but some where local.

I think it was sometime 2008 when Microsoft went live with banners giving up to 30% off and those banners were also in bullions and coins. We searched for the ones we still don't have in our collection and chose only the graded ones. We were able to sell a lot of duplicates in our stash when the price of gold soared the next few years.

You can buy gold on eBay just make sure it's a reputable seller that does a lot of transactions, (I.e. Apmex)

A very uninformed statement. EBay can actually be one of the very best places to buy gold in terms of net prices... after portal, eBayBucks, CC, and accumulated gift card discounts.

Ohh, for a return of those Live/Bing free money days... or even those Target/eBay gift card cycling days.

Then you would be a fool. You should speak with experience rather than parrot something you've heard.
Many reputable bullion/coin companies sell on eBay.
I have entered over 20 dispute/claims with small time gold sellers on eBay over 10 years... I have NEVER lost a penny thanks to eBay Resolution Group.

I'm not a huge fan of eBay the company, but they get a bad rap on how they handle returns, refunds on the buying side... they are excellent in this area.

This assumes or course that you know what you've purchased and received.
