This is a pretty good deal, even with the new GTX 1070 at $449.99 and eventually $379.99 in the coming weeks. It has a blower style cooler as well which is good for people that want the air blown outside of the case. It should hold it's value pretty well. If you need a card now, this is the one to get.

$254.99 - $30 Rebate = $224.99

Nice deal. I picked up an EVGA refurb for $235 about two months ago, but would go with this if I hadn't. Blowers do tend to be a little noisy though.

Pretty bad deal when you consider the RX 480 exists.

But it doesn't, yet. Only time will tell if manufacturing can meet demand for that $200 price point.

480 doesn't come out for another 2 weeks and it could be plagued with the same availability issues as the 1070. Plus it is AMD and their cards are always priced lower than NVidia based on performance. This deal is priced accordingly, even with the RX 480 coming out since performance is supposed to be similar.

I'd pay the difference to go with Nvidia. Driver support is important.

I've used GTX 970 cards with the blower-style fans and I have had pretty bad luck with them. The NewEgg reviews are pretty poor and seem to commonly revolve around card failure. I'd pay the extra for a Strix or an EVGA SC/SC+. But like was said above, the RX 480 is coming out and at $200 and able to handle very basic VR and good 1080p gaming, that's probably the better option. I just hope they've improved power efficiency. nVidia has AMD beat on performance-per-watt on most of their competing products. I also agree with driver stability on nVidia, but AMD has improved significantly, almost to the point where it's hardly a consideration anymore.

I have a 970 blower style and haven't had any issues with it. My ATI card on the other hand wouldn't play Diablo 3 with crossfire enabled. And the software that was supposed to enable you to disable crossfire through profiles didn't work. So every time I wanted to play Diablo I would have to disable crossfire. I'm done with that. The new 1070 replaced my last ATI.

you do understand that it was diablo3 itself that was the problem right? diablo has had problems with both sli and crossfire for years.

This isn't 2009. AMD has the better driver support now.

First of all the deal is wrong as actual price after rebate is 219, not 224. This is the best deal for 970GTX so far and I almost pulled the trigged, however, if RX 480 benchmarks are correct it will be waaaayy better for 19$ less. I'm now waiting for real world benchmarks.

Price dropped just a tad: $249.99 - $30 MIR = $219.99 now. Very sweet price for a new GTX 970 card. Single blower fan design so I have no idea how loud this card might be. Great price still.

I ordered this item and it sounds like a Mexican on a lawnmower cutting the grass in front of your bedroom at 8am on Sunday after your 30 y.o. anniversary. Did I mention the PITA of returning a replacement only item to newegg? I got lucky and got store credit refund -10% restocking fee after an hour of online chat conversation. And I've been a newegg customer in good standing for a while.
