Need help with Panasonic Viera 50" Plasma

we got this TV about 5yrs ago. it is a smart TV with Netflix, Amazon Prime, Facebook loaded in the UI.

yesterday we were trying connect to Netflix and it didn't work.. kept getting a 404 not found. and seems none of the feature like Amazone, Facebook, etc doesn't work either.

we tried reseting to factory default, upgrading the FW which has been on ver. 1.3 since day one, and none of it works.

anyway around this?

are you sure the tv is connected to the internet?

yes, i'm positive as we've also ran a connection test from within the TV.

Several things to try biggest one is just a wired cable to router, if you need a long cable see if you can borrow one from work..

Firstly, please enter the Network Setup option on the television and run the Connection Test. With the error code '008,' it should fail the last point.

Once the test has finished, press the Return button and then go to the IP/DNS settings and press OK. You have to make sure that both the IP and DNS settings are both set to Auto. If one of them says Manual, then you need to change it back to Auto. Press return and wait for the television to go back to the Network screen then re-run the Connection Test to see if it passes. If it does pass it should then connect to Viera Cast correctly. If it still does not connect, then your router is blocking the television. At this point you will need to check some settings on the router.

Please make sure that DHCP and UPnP are turned on. If you have MAC filtering turned on, you will have to enter the MAC address of the television in on the router (this can be found at the bottom of the network settings on the television). Alternatively, you may have to contact your internet service provider or the manufacture of the router.

and this for the hard reset

To confirm your wireless connection:

Make sure that there are no HDD devices connected to one of the USB ports on the Viera television. If one is connected, then disconnect this unit as it will continue to cause the issue of losing the internet connection.
Unplug the AC power cord on the router and plug it back in.
Go to your router menu on your computer, then select the router security settings to WPA or WPA2.
Select WPA2 Personal (not Public). Once you have saved the changed settings, write down the new encryption key provided to you by the router. Please record it exactly the way it is written as it is case sensitive.
Do a hard reset of the TV. Note: we recommend that you go through all of the User Settings in your set and write down the Picture/Audio settings in each Picture Mode that may have been manually adjusted so you can change them back to these after the set has been reset to factory defaults. These settings are all adjustable by the User. Doing a hard reset of the TV will not change anything that has been adjusted in the Service Menu (done by Servicer or Calibrator, not end-user settings) of your set.
To perform a hard reset, push and hold simultaneously [Volume Down] on the TV itself and [Menu] on the remote until it says "Self Check" on the TV display.
[Power] on the TV
Once it shuts down turn the TV on and go through the first time set up.
It the first time set up select "Wireless" and then select "Search for Wireless Networks."
Once your network name is found highlight it with the up or down arrow and push [OK].
Enter you network security Key exactly as indicated in your router setting when you set it up to WPA/WPA2. Note: passwords are case sensitive.
Once you have entered it push [OK]. The TV will now perform a connection test. Once it has gone through select your date and time and go down to next and push [OK].
"Please enjoy your Viera TV" will display, select [OK].

The issue here is that netflix will no longer work on this model tv. This is a 2011 model, and as with many smart tvs, as they age, certain apps are no longer supported.
In this case, the server environment used by netflixed changed, such that the panasonic app, written specially for this model tv by panasonic, is no longer compatible. The only way that would change is if panasonic were to release an updated app to restore functionality. Unfortunately, there would be no expectation that this would happen. Once smart tvs get to be a few years old, manufactures effectively stop supporting them, marketing agreements end, and apps stop being updated.
So simply put, netflix no longer works on the tv because the netflix feature was dropped for this model, and will not be restored.
Your best option at this point, other than buying a new tv (yours is actually a 32" set, and could be replaced for around $200), would be to connect the tv to an external streaming device, such as a roku, fire tv, htpc or smart bluray player and get all the same functions and many more, with better performance (faster, more responsive, etc) far more apps, and better overall long term support (in the case of roku/amazon)
