Many people hate AMD CPUs and HP PCs and will TD deals just for that (that ain't me - I like HP business notebooks and AMD's APUs for the right price). A big plus for this deal is that the item is in NEW condition, not to mention is a business class notebook.

But some just want the most power for the least price, and if you're looking for an A10 lappy with similar specs to this one, Dell Outlet has had Inspiron 15-5555s on sale frequently that work out to around $250 or so depending on coupons. Of course, those are manufacturer refurbished, and the current Inspiron 15s all have clickpads compared to this HP's touchpad with dedicated buttons.

So, as in many cases, it depends on what you're looking for.

Are AMD CPUs that bad vs Intel? I can see if it were low end but this seems pretty high up there for mobile CPU.

Battery life issue?

Great that it has real touchpad and buttons. HATE the clickpads!

These are just odd specs. Why put 16gb ram in a budget system? CPU and screen are low end specs but lots of ram? It's just odd.

This CPU seems to be somewhere between a i3 and a i5, but they draw significantly more power so thus worse battery life. AMD CPUs get a bad rap because they just aren't competitive. Intel really hasn't made huge strides in raw processing power in the consumer market in many years, they've just had minor incremental improvements while greatly reducing power usage.

This model is based on AMD Carrizo architecture and does not draw more power compared to an Intel ULV Core i5 or Core i3. Notebookcheck did a good analysis of the performance and power consumption and they agreed that AMD has decreased the power consumption by 20% from their 7000 series Kaveri APU.

Not bad for a laptop with dedicated graphics though.
