Official HEB coupon policy, from their website:

H-E-B Coupon Policy
At H-E-B, we know how important it is for you to maximize every dollar you spend with us. Coupons are a big part of that, so below we have outlined our guidelines for your convenience.

H-E-B accepts the following types of coupons:

•Manufacturer issued coupons obtained from printed publications (newspaper, FSI, magazines, etc)
•H-E-B Issued coupons
•Manufacturer-sponsored coupons (Type M coupon; has an 'M' in bottom left corner)
•Store-sponsored coupons (Type S Coupon; has an 'S' in the bottom left corner)
•Big Savings coupons (Type B coupons; has a 'B' in the bottom left corner)
•The above mentioned H-E-B issued coupons are typically
•Available at store level and typically yellow in color
•Generated by a coupon printer at the register and provided with customer receipt
•Distributed via direct mail to customer households or other printed publications
•Printable coupons with a bar code (i.e. Online or Internet coupons)

Please consider the following guidelines and limitations:

•Coupons can only be redeemed for items, brands, and sizes as specified by the requirements of the coupon.
•Only one manufacturer coupon per item is permitted.
•Combining a manufacturer issued coupon with an H-E-B issued manufacturer coupon (Type M) on the same item is not permitted
•H-E-B will combine store sponsored yellow coupons with manufacturer coupons for the same product
•One (1) manufacturer issued coupon and one (1) H-E-B issued Store-sponsored (Type S)
•One (1) manufacturer issued coupon and one (1) H-E-B issued Big Savings coupon (Type B)
•H-E-B does not double or triple coupons.
•H-E-B cannot give cash back if the face value of a coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item.
•Coupons must be presented to the cashier at time of purchase.
•Coupons cannot be redeemed for cash.
•The following coupons cannot be accepted:
•Expired coupons
•Competitor coupons
•Coupons without a barcode
•H-E-B accepts valid online and other printable coupons as follows:
•Online and other Printable coupons should be legible and have a bar code.
•Buy-one-get-one-free coupons (BOGOs) are accepted. (i.e. Buy X, Get X Free)
•"Free product" printable coupons are not accepted (i.e. Get X Free)
•Printable Coupons will not be accepted if they appear copied or are altered in any way. They should be printed directly from the website or email in which they were offered.
•Printable Coupons have unique serial numbers and follow an industry standard format; they are non-transferable, and should not be copied, scanned, sold, traded, or otherwise distributed.
•H-E-B reserves the right to refuse any coupon or limit quantities.

Important Information on how to Maximize your Savings at HEB!!!

Quote :
When HEB is having a Buy xx Get yy FREE, you may use a Coupon on the Item xx (the one you have to purchase in order to get the other Item(s) Free) but you CANNOT use a coupon on Item yy. HEB's yellow In-Store coupons are indeed Manufacturer Coupons, so when they scan the Yellow In-Store coupon to make one of your items free that coupon slot has already been taken and any other coupons you may try and use on the Free item will beep.

HEB's Policy on Internet Coupons thanks to easydoesit:

Here is the HEB coupon policy that my cousin received back from HEB:

Dear H-E-B Customer Relations:

Hello and thank you for contacting us at our H-E-B Web Site. We always appreciate hearing from our Friends and Customers.

Thank you for sharing your concerns regarding H-E-B accepting internet coupons. Our stores can accept internet coupons; however, they must have a clear bar code that scans for the correct amount, as this is how we determine that they are valid. There is a maximum dollar value of $10 and a limit of two of the same internet coupon. We do not accept free item internet coupons, to include buy one get one free offers, due to fraud in this area, and all internet coupons must scan to be accepted. This is not to say that all coupons found online are valid. Some times what a customer thinks is a coupon is nothing more than a statement from a supplier with a cost listed on it and this is not redeemable. Additionally, many coupons found online are for a specific participating retailer. These coupons would not be redeemable at H-E-B.

H-E-B is proud to serve you as our Customer and we will look forward to all future opportunities we may have to serve you. We genuinely value your comments and your business. As we strive to deliver superior Customer Service, we encourage you to continue letting us know how we can serve you better.

Sincerely,
xxxxx

Heads up! I got The San Antonio Light free paper thrown in my yard today. It didn't have any inserts but it did have a one page HEB coupon for a FREE Orchid Nail Lacquer (limit 1 per customer) valid 3/23 - 3/30. Wonder if it will be in tomorrow's paper?

I wonder if adding gift cards and rolling them though would still work to assure balance is above the spend threshold

I know this was suggested a while back, but wanted to say that this works. I have 3 of the $10/$30 cats expiring very soon. i bought a $20 gift card in addition to my $30+ in merchandise-paid $19.97 in cash. No beeps and no intervention needed. Turned around and did it again-using gift card #1 to get gift card #2. Best coupons are the Bic razor coupons and the free orchid nail polish in today's paper.

Wanted to report that I used a YQ for the spreadable HEB butter and get pills bury biscuits free. Didn't realize until I got home that I grabbed the smaller size of the spreadable butter $1.50 and the YQ scanned. The bigger size butter is $2.50 and the biscuits are $1.38.

I went into HEB several times over the past month and asked them to mark down ground beef that expire the following day and they give me a bunch of different, vague, and faulty reasons why they cannot. I even went at 9pm and they offered me 20% off instead of their usual 50% off. I've gotten them to mark down upon request, but I think I was just lucky to ask the meat cutters instead of the supervisors/managers. I've also seen marked down ground beef on the shelves w/o request.

So I have no clue as to their policy and the employees seem to have no clue either. Does anyone know their actual policy? It doesn't make sense why they would choose to throw away meat instead of selling at 50% off. Unless they aren't really throwing them away. They mark down almost everything else in the store including chicken, pork, beef, milk, etc. Everything except bakery, which is another mystery as to why they don't mark that down like Kroger/Walmart does.

They don't mark down bread because they donate it, I am not sure on the meat, just that different stores seem to have differing policies on it, no unified policy. As to the not ground beef, like steaks, and roast, they grind that into hamburger, that is what they make the 2.77lb hamburger out of. It is usually put out with a same day expiration date.

If you still have the Dr. Pepper coupons that came out in the stand alone Q flyer for drinks a few weeks ago:

Dr. Pepper 10 are 3/$4 or $1.33 each, there is a 0.75 Q for Buy the various "10" drinks

Total = $0.58 each

Diet Dr. Pepper Cherry are 0.97, there is a 0.75 Q when you buy 2:

2 X 0.97= $1.94-0.75= $1.19 for 2 or 0.60 each

The q's expire March 31st

In Waco, All bakery gets donated to caritas and ground beef is thrown out. They only mark down chicken, pork and marinated beef....(according to the meat guy)

Yea those with same day expiration are the packages with the saran wrap. I was referring to the 3lb and 5lb packages of ground beef that have a blue plastic package. They have somewhere around a week expiration from when they first appear on the shelf.

I think that like in many stores, when an item is 'clearanced', employees may get first pick on it. So it's possible they are marking it down when on the day it expires and the employees are taking it home to family.

Caution - OT only.

I went to HEB yesterday to use up all of my gift cards from previous deals. I haven't shopped there since they changed the coupon policy and I doubt I'll be back. I started shopping there about 2 years ago because of their coupon policy and I'll miss their good deals. I won't miss the crowded aisles, parking lots, etc. Their customer service is good but that's not enough of a draw for me to go so I'm back to Walmart for regular groceries.

I felt very nostalgic as I shopped and it felt weird to check out and actually spend my gift cards knowing that this was the end...there was no CAT to work toward or obtain. So many stores with so many coupon changes over the past 2 years. HEB & Walgreens were my last 2 holdout stores but now they've both changed their policies. I'm sad but also looking forward to a normal life (or a semi-break Smilie ) and shopping kind of like a normal person.

ah, now that makes perfect sense. They don't mark it down, so that it won't sell, so that they can keep it.

Is Walmart doing it in your area? I saw something on a blog that WM is doing it again for the summer. Just surprised that HEB wouldn't match it...
