This may be the only laptop most people need. An IPS 1080p 14" hp laptop with 4gb ram and a quad core AMD E2 cpu for just $200. Much better value than any chrome book. I am not familiar with the AMD E2 cpu but on Passmark it beats the dual core celeron n3060 usually found in sub $250 laptops. If you need more storage just pop in a SanDisk Ultra Fit 128GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive for $30.

Note that this is designed to be used as a cloud computer and compete with Chromebooks. Based on amazon reviews, RAM seems upgradeable.

That has all the right specs for me. HP made all the right compromises to get to that price point.

That promo video really appeals to my sense of vanity:

"With HP's Truevision web cam on your HP notebook, you can rest assured that you'll always look your best."

FYI - it's in pre-order. No word on ship date. Nevertheless, that's probably the cheapest new/non-refurb 1080p Windows laptop I've seen. 32Gb of storage isn't that slick, but it has a SD slot. Tempted...

Sounds like a decent deal for brand new windows 10 laptop. I had a laptop with amd e1 last year and cpu was running just fine i had no problems or slow, laggy performance and this is amd e2 so should be even better

I fell for AMD QUAD CORE trick with Ideapad before, not again.
Although SSD might make a huge difference, but at 32GB, don't expect much.

At least it has full HD 14" IPS.

It doesn't mention if the battery is removable?

Just so you're aware, if you ever feel the need Cortana can be completely shut off in settings.

Lowest price Windows 10 1080p notebook thus far.

Would need to add a 250gb SSD & a RAM stick, so that's $125 more.

If you receive this, you may want to check if it reports battery drain even when powered off, like to the tune of >2% per day. I had that issue on the HP Stream 13 (consistent 2.5% drain per day while powered off, much greater than my other laptops and tablets), and this laptop seems to be just a few degrees better, but still in the budget bracket. If the battery is removable, I'd just take it out, but if it's stuck in there, it'd be wear-and-tear you'd have to live with.

This may be designed like the HP Stream, which was non-expandable, non-replaceable 32GB storage and RAM, and was very comparably specced and priced when considering the Stream came out 2014 or early 2015.
