GA-Z170X-UD3 was my candidate hackintoshed. But this and i7 $315 deal are 10 days late, along with Fry's corsair 256gb $50 deal.

CA tax free from BH no sale up n running was with GA-Z170X-SLI clover el capitanon raid-0.

I think they are clearing out UD3 and at $91 is very good deal.

Ama. I have this paired with a 6600k. Love it. Can't go wrong with this.

honest question: what has Intel improved, in the last 6 or 7 years, on the desktop?

if we had a real market (similar to graphics cards, ssds, etc) I'd have my choice between a 6xxx and mobo for $600 and a 4xxx and mobo for $200, with real cost benefits.

But we don't. It's $600, year after year, with no real improvements. No discounts for going with the older version without all these 'new' features.

Since Intel has improved little on the desktop, where power consumption doesn't matter as much, seems like it's time for DOJ to start monopoly investigations.

Of course this will never happen. Meanwhile, my 2012 build will be no worse than the latest Intel puts out for a long damn time, save for a new GPU and SSD.
