NEW and IMPROVED CRAFTSMAN CAR READER DIAGNOSTIC TOOL

It's easy and affordable to diagnose CHECK ENGINE and ABS lights with the user-friendly Craftsman handheld diagnostic tool. Use it to find out why these lights are on, see if your car is ready to pass its emissions test, check for road trip readiness, or determine if a problem is something simple you can fix yourself, and even double-check mechanics' estimates.

Works with any car, light truck, minivan, SUV or hybrid manufactured since 1996 (OBD2) - foreign and domestic.
Connects to the OBD2 port (usually found under the steering column).
On-screen diagnostic trouble code (DTC) definition in English, French, and Spanish defines what triggered the CHECK ENGINE light to turn on.
Read and Erase CHECK ENGINE light codes with a click of a button (warning: it will come back on unless the root problem is fixed).

actually I was surprised, Amazon has some for as low as $10. I think cheaper will fit most peoples needs unless you got a lot of points to spend

This can clear an abs light and is the cheapest you'll probably find locally. I had to clear an abs light for a dead battery and could not clear or find an abs reader for anything less than $100 locally. Would probably be about the same for a dealer to clear it.

I do not see that it supports the CAN Protocols (ISO15765/SAEJ2480). CAN is a must if you want to pull ALL the manufacture codes.

Claims to read ABS codes but it does not state that it covers the CAN Protocols (ISO15765/SAEJ2480)? I would not buy it unless I knew for sure it covered CAN.

According to the Craftsman OBD2+ABS Car Reader Model # 3030gSC downloadable owners manual [sears.com]:

- The reader is capable of reading/clearing ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) codes in addition to engine and emission codes.
- It may also be able to read some transmission codes (if pertaining to emissions?).
- It's USB interface allows reader connection to a PC for historical storing of codes.
- Via PC, the reader can access online troubleshooting procedures and databases through host PC internet connection.

Would be nice if it could used as vehicle interface for specific vehicle diagnostic/reprogramming software such as Chrysler Witech (reader connected to car and PC both at same time), but at an original $70 pricing range, such extended vehicle interface capability would be highly doubtful.
