Deal Details

Sportsmansguide [sportsmansguide.com] has this rifle in stock for $474.99 (member) or $499.99 (non-member) + $4.99 S/H

A complete AR of this quality, at a price better than this? You just won't find it. You supply the sights and the mags, Anderson delivers the rest, with big-time quality and value. Unlike other companies, Anderson makes most of their components in-house at their Hebron, Kentucky facility... meaning they can control costs like no other. So while the price says "entry level," the built quality and finish are well beyond.

Upper details:

Chambered in 5.56x45mm / .223 Remington
Direct impingement
16" M4 1:8" twist barrel
7075 T6 Forged Upper receiver
High-rise gas block
A2 handguard
A2 flash hider
Standard charging handle
Bolt carrier group

Lower details:

Complete open trigger assembled
6-position stock assembly
Lower parts kit included

As with all firearms purchased through the Internet, this model has to be shipped to an FFL local to you. Said FFL will then require you to complete a form 4473 [atf.gov] which is used to perform a background check. Once you pass that background check, the FFL will transfer the weapon to you. The cost of this transfer depends on your location. Also note, depending on where you live, additional requirement may have to be met. Check with your local FFL or law enforcement office for those and to verify this rifle is legal for you to own.

Please note that the Islamic terrorist who committed the Orlando terror attack did NOT use an AR-15. He used a SIG MCX [sigevolution.com] which may look similar but is a different rifle.

Who cares what he used, the person is responsible, not the rifle.

Unfortunately a lot of people seem to care and are yelling for an AR15 ban as that is what a lot of media reported was used. Hence my comment trying to avoid a flamewar over what is a pretty decent deal.

Anderson Rifles [andersonrifles.com] is a well known and respected manufacturer of AR15 uppers and lowers. Please note this model does not come with their RF85 no-lube treatment.

I reworked the OP so it should show the deal but I don't use the app so no 100% guarantee

Why did you highlight "Lower parts kit included"? I know it says that but you will receive a fully assembled lower. Don't imply or say that anyone needs to assemble a lower. This is still outside of most peoples capabilities.

A bit of digging in the Questions section will show that they ship it completed. Yes, I know they should fix the description.

The only assembly needed is pinning the upper to the lower which will take maybe 5-10 seconds.

Also, this deal has been around for awhile and is also on slickguns, but this is the best price and I implore anyone considering an AR to buy one.

If you don't want a complete AR-15 but want the option later, should they be banned, you can buy a "stripped lower" for ~$40. My friend bought 5 Anderson lowers from SG.

How do these compare to aks as far as reliability and durability? How much are decent sights and mags for it??

I'm pretty new to the AR platform. Can someone give some input in how this compares to the PSA builds? I've seen cheaper polymer builds from other companies but I heard they lose accuracy due to flex as it heats up with usage.

I guess it depends on your deinifiton of decent sights, depending on the use. Anything from $50 clones to hundreds for Trijicon/Aimpoints. AR magazines can be found for pretty cheap though.

I don't have much experience with ARs. Just passing on what I've gotten from my research.

I'd say PSA is better from what I've read but no personal experience. I've got an Anderson lower/upper I'm almost done building and everything seems to be good with the one caveat of the grip screw hole not drilled all the way. You'll either need a shorter screw or tap the hole deeper or just add washers to the screw.

Also id advise against a polymer receiver set, you can get away w a lower that's polymer but I still prefer all metal. Anderson upper/lowers use to go for about $40 each so $80 for both upper and lower which is as cheap as polymers sets cost. No you may pay $90-100 for a set since they seem to be selling quicker.

I bought lots of PMAGs and brownell steel mags for ~$10 each from sportsmansguide recently.

So about $10 for 30 rounders, saw some 40 rounders for ~11-12 or so but I don't know about them since there were lots of complains. I did pick up a 60 and 100 round sure fire mag though. I will not be left out in the cold should something happen. It will be something else to dump 100 rounds with my bump fire stock.

As for sights, you can get a walmart red dot for $50 or an EOtech for $500. Just depends on what you want. flip up iron sights are ~$40.

I have never owned an "AK style" rifle but I have heard they are more reliable than AR-15's.

In my opinion the Ruger AR-15 SG is selling is a pretty decent deal @ $580 since it comes with sights and a mag. mines been great.

I own an AK because you pull trigger, it go bang. Under engineered brilliantly to be almost human proof, regardless of how you treat it. Its not as accurate as any of my AR platform rifles, but it will always send lead downrange.

TU on this deal!
