And you're paying more for an older processor, older graphics, half the SSD storage, much lower resolution screen, non-touch screen. This is the definition of Apple devices, you pay more and get less.
Speak for yourself, I have a Compaq that I bought my 3rdnd year of college that I still use for work. It's 12 years old and still works fine.
So you're paying over 50% more because it feels better? It's psychological, of course a $550 more laptop is going to feel better to you. Otherwise there's no way to justify such an absurd increase in price. Apple did one thing exceptionally well, and it's convincing people that their ridiculous price is actually worth it.
Right....

I have a 4.5 year old Acer that's beautiful. It's also better today than when new thanks to a new SSD. A fantastic computer that I'd take over all the macs around me.

It's funny how some mac guys just can't believe it. I mean they've been told that nothing beats a mac. Well, nothing does beat a mac - according the apple propaganda and hype machine.

What apple does well (like Google) is provide excellent customer service, and that costs money. Dell on the other hand, today has some of the worst CS I've ever experienced. But since macs are so great, you'll never need CS right? So why pay for it, right? Wink

not bad for limited storage but way too small for me.

for those wondering you may be able to upgrade the memory to 16gb but it might be expensive too.

the replacement model is superior but obviously more expensive. I have both the 7359 (returning to Dell) and the newest 7368 so I've compared both.

Why are you returning the 7359 and what's better about the 7368 that made you keep it?

I appreciate you pointing out what he obviously missed (because I was going to), but from someone who has bounced between Apple, Microsoft and Google devices for years, Apple is the only one that will still be running well in 3 years (or running at all).

I have the non-signature version of this laptop, an I installed a 250GB Samsung EVO SSD, so essentially the same as the first laptop in the original post. I also got a 2016 Apple MacBook m3 earlier this week. With typical SD discounting/deals you're looking at $700 vs $1250 OTD price i.e. $550 delta for the same specs. Due to the Adorama trade-in deal a few months back, my total cost including SSD was $450. Anyways.

As an owner of both, I can tell you the MacBook feels considerably faster, and the build quality difference is laughable. The Dell feels like a flimsy, heavy toy, with a weak screen and poor ergonomics.

I'm returning the 7359 because it was just one problem after another. I've never had a bad computer before (and I've had lots over the decades) but this was my first. BSODs, constant display driver crashes - and I mean it may crash 5 time in 10 minutes, audio problems (It would lose audio for some strange reason), etc. This is all stuff that a) should never happen on a new PC, and b) if it does happen, it should be fixable with driver updates; it was not. Dell screwed the pooch on this one. It happens I guess and DOAs occur. I had zero ghost touch problems, but I only used the touch screen twice to see if it worked.

We have a couple more 7359s, so I know what it should be like, how it should perform, etc. This one simply wouldn't and besides all the other driver crashes (didn't have the wifi problem) it refused to start twice and had 7-8 critical total system failures in a 3 week period.

I argued with Dell for a long time to get it replaced and would have taken the same model but they didn't have any more. The exchange was the 7368. It's really a much nicer box in almost every way IMO. It can take up to 32gb of memory, but I had to go down to a 512gb ssd and lost my 1TB drive in the 7359 (they don't offer a 1tb option anymore). It's also more expensive because it isn't on sale. I would take one of the 7359 models as long as it didn't crash all the time, but there's no looking back at this point.

Oh yeah, the 7368 loses the built in stylus, and 1 usb 3 port. The 7359 has 3x usb 3.0 ports, the 7368 has 1x usb-A 3.0, 1x usb-C 3.0 port, and 1x usb 2.0. the DDR 4 moemory upgrade options is worth it though, and Sandisk now has a 1TB M.2 SSD (x400) if I need the space.

Thanks OP. I purchased this on Monday for $674.00. I was able to call MS and get a price adjustment for the $25 difference. Big Grin

Should I buy the cheapest pair of shoes at the store, even though the more expensive ones feel better and look better? They're both the same size (laptop specs!), after all. What about cars? A $10K Nissan Versa doesn't look or feel as nice as a $100K Mercedes.

Is the back panel of the screen made of plastic or aluminum?
