Thx, went in for the 12k BTU one.

Equivalent to:

so approx $100 off. Worth it, I think. Will find out.

I don't know much about the portable ac units and w ould rather pay a little more for the option of beinga able returnin it at a nearby location (B&M ( WM , HD, Lowes etc ) if defective or doesn't perform up to my expectations

The LP1215GXR is SweetHome's second most recommended unit, though they recommend a window one if you have the ability to do so. Hopefully I don't have any problems with this refurbished unit.

They do have to be attached to a window anyway, fyi.

first one they sent me worked to cool down a room. 10,000 Btu, but made the most hideous sound imaginable, fan was hitting something loose inside. took some time convincing Groupon to let me return it-had to make customer service guy listen to the sound for ever. they sent me another 10,000 Btu, different model, thing works like crap but hey! no noise! needless to say I am disappointed and it is freaking boiling here
