At Jet.com, new Toshiba Chromebook 2 with Intel i3-5015U is at $379.99 with free shipping.

Toshiba CB35-C3350 [jet.com]

Create a NEW ACCOUNTS on Jet.com and then use 'TRIPLE15' code for $30 off the $379.99 price which will bring down the price to $349.99.

Forgo the free return service to save additional $8.36 to bring the final price to $341.63.

For me, there was no tax. YMMV.

I've copied the spec from another post.

You are missing nothing.

People are not use to seeing Chromebook in the $300+ range.

Last time, this $380 post had 28 TU.

This is a better deal.

Can someone explain why would anyone pay $400 for basically a web browser? It doesn't even have much storage (16GB, by the way). I am seriously curious, why not a tablet for $150 or a full laptop for $200-$250?

This Chromebook is receiving an update that will give it the Google Play store to run Android apps. In addition, you can upgrade the SSD in this Chromebook. For $50, you can add 128GB SSD.

One other thing. Most reviewers state the celeron 3215u offers almost the same performance and is a better value. The lowest I have seen for that one is 289. I'm waiting for a really slick deal on that model.

Seems only Asus, Acer and Google are producing touch screen chromebooks, which will be handy with Android Apps.

Maybe more upcoming chromebooks later this year will have touch screen functionality.

more than I would spend on a CB, and the meh.com refurb has enough oomph for standard CB usage.

on the other hand, this seems like a great price for the i3 version if you need that. probably a good option if you intend to dual boot to Linux.

I have had a lot better performance with video after installing the chrome extension recommended in one of the other CB threads, even with the lower end CPU 1080p video works well (was choppy pre-extension)

Just a reminder that some credit cards include a return guarantee service in case you have to return it but they do require that you pay the shipping and the item must be unopened.

Usually the first thing the Windows turfers do on a Chromebook thread is say for the same price you can get a Windows laptop, why pay xxx for a glorified browser. Hopefully, the ability to run Android apps will stop that thread crapping nonsense in the future.

Anyway, good price, with the i3 I bet this thing flies and will run Linux greatly.

Chromebooks are great, I have 2. But not really worth it above $200-250.

Also the i3 will only get used if you install Linux and in that case I recommend GalliumOS.

Can any chromebook install Linux? Is GalliumOS faster and lighter than Arch + openbox?

Yes you can run Linux either along side ChromeOS (google crouton) or separately, it turns your cheap chromebook into a full laptop esp if you upgrade the ssd.

Gallium is built for Chromebooks, e.g. it has working drivers and maps the special keys found on the chromebook. I don't know whether its faster than other distros, I think its a bit lighter but then so is Arch.
