There is a "cash price" that's lower, but I assume you have to mail them a check.

Anyway, drawbacks to this gun. No dust cover, no forward assist, no rear sight, and has the standard A2 front sight.

What all of that means:
1. No dust cover - the ejection port is exposed. For most people, this really isn't an issue.
2. No forward assist - Forward assist allows you to force via ratcheting mechanism, a round into the chamber. In battle conditions with dirty rifles, abused rifles, dirty (as in literally dirty/muddy), this might be useful. For urban mall mercenaries, it's really not important, IMHO.
3. No rear sight... buy one. They're fairly cheap.
4. A2 style front sight. If you want a rail in front of the flat-top, you'll have to remove the handguard AND the A2 style front sight (handguard is easy, front sight, not so much). You can then reinstall the front sight or change the gas block and get a different front sight. The A2 style is gas block and sight. I suppose it's possible to remove the barrel and put a short, carbine length quad rail on without removing the front sight, but honestly, not sure.

Honestly, if you're looking to spend $500 on an AR-15, there are often better choices, and there are less expensive choices if you're willing to settle on a Del-Ton. At this price point, either get a S&W M&P 15 or Ruger AR556 for a little more or just accept that you're buying a generic rifle and get anything. At least this barrel is treated whereas the Anderson that's also on SD isn't.

Note: This is a gun deal. You clicked this link knowing it was a gun deal. Guns are like gay marriage -- they are legal and no one is making you get one. If you don't like it, don't get one, but don't trample on my rights and I won't trample on yours.

This is trash at that price. Find a military buddy, and cop a better brand and better rig at AAFES. Tax free as well.

They will take an e-check as well at cash price, takes about 2 days to clear. They don't hold inventory for you until payment clears. Buds also has 90 day layaway at no extra charge, 20% down. Buds has mixed reviews, but my handful of orders with them have been smooth. As with ALL internet firearms orders, inspect the piece BEFORE signing the transfer paperwork and taking possession.

This rifle has a weaker commercial buffer tube, and weaker 4140 steel barrel. Same steel as in 90% of other barrels, but the mil spec calls for 4150 to handle full auto fire. Along with most of the detriments listed above, 99% of users won't know the difference.

Still, if you can still find a Sport or Ruger around $500, that's a better deal. Probably all gone now for the next 9-12 months though.
