Great router and this is there almost monthly sale/rebate price. I have two the they are rock solid both with stock firmware and Merlin.

I'm not advising one way or other but they are cheaper. Plus you can buy direct from TMO for $99. I might just suck it up and take travelnshot's advise though from reading post that version is heavily locked down and updates are not as fast in TMO model. I wish I got one when I was a TMO customer

Is it worth while to buy an N router now, or will they quickly become obsolete?

Nope! They are about ~$70 in like new condition. Mine came in pristine condition and worked great out of the box after letting it automatically updating the firmware for half an hour or so

Don't need to flash 3rd party firmware if you are normal user. I have both T-Mobile and RT-N66U and super happy that I upgraded
